Elon Musk, Tesla’s CEO, has unveiled on March 24 a few details about the new Tesla Model 3. He emphasized that its upcoming model will not be more revolutionary or advanced compared to their flagship Model S. Elon Musk stated that Tesla Model 3 is only a cheaper and smaller version of their Model S, featuring less power and range and also fewer updates and features.
The new Tesla Model 3 will not have a more advanced dashboard
Model S is known to be equipped with more advanced technology. Moreover, Musk argued that the new Model 3 will not be outfitted with elegant auto controls as the Model S is. Even if the information shared by Elon Musk is clear enough, fans are disappointed at the thought that they had heard so many speculations about Model 3 in the last few months that they expected a lot more features and advanced technology than Musk revealed.
Due to the fact that, when Tesla Model 3 prototype was unveiled last year, it seemed to lack an instrument board with standard indicators for range, speed or other useful data, several Tesla fans were wondering whether Tesla had an extra card up its sleeve. They were expecting a special dashboard, believing that the new model will feature a heads up display (HUD) on the windshield.

Unfortunately, from the photos of last year with the prototype’s dashboard, it is obvious that the only thing which can be accessed by the driver is the 15-inch touchscreen located in the middle of the console. Tesla Model 3 drivers will have to look to the upper corner on the left of the screen to see their current speed. Nevertheless, Tesla does not seem to have a hidden plan to implement advanced HUD on their Model 3.
In a tweet, Elon Musk stated that because cars are growing to be more autonomous, the use for a variety of information becomes less of a problem. Musk claims that “the more autonomous a car is, the less dash info you need.” Nevertheless, we should keep in mind the fact that we are still a long way off before completely autonomous cars take the lead. For the moment, Tesla enthusiasts are to decide whether the new Model 3 design is maybe too far ahead of its time.
