If yesterday’s news about Facebook changing the privacy settings again hasn’t convinced you that they are up no to good, then what you will learn today, certainly will. News broke that Facebook’s mobile app will be losing one of its most important features: the ability to send messages. If its users want to send messages through the Facebook mobile app, then they will need to download and install the Facebook Messenger App.
Facebook Messenger App
The fact that users won’t be able to send direct messages through their Facebook mobile app will upset many, we’re certain. Forcing theirs users to download the Facebook Messenger App for iOS or Android isn’t a pretty way to get people to do what they want, but this is Facebook and people seem to have a high degree of tolerance when it comes to the most popular social media site in the world.
When is the change going to take full effect? Most likely in about two weeks. A spokesperson for the company confirmed that the change is not temporary or regional and that soon, everyone who will want to send a message through Facebook on their mobile phone are going to have to do it through the Facebook Messenger App.
But what happens if you’re using a Windows phone or tablet or if your low-end Android phone doesn’t support the new Facebook Messenger App? Well, then you’re going to either have to upgrade or live a life without sending messages to your friends on Facebook from your mobile phone.
The reason behind Facebook’s decision to use another app for sending messages from mobile devices is, we believe, its desire to integrate the newly bought WhatsApp and voice or video calling. We believe that the Facebook Messenger App is a smart move for Facebook and that Facebook Messenger is going places. We can’t wait to see what they come up with next!
