Surprisingly, the age of voice calling is not gone yet. Say `Hello` as Facebook introduces voice calling to Android.
The announcement of the new feature that Facebook integrated into a new app for Android has started a series of countless discussions among both of the tech experts and tech enthusiasts, as the California based tech giant introduced the new Android app on the same day that WhatsApp has taken another step into covering the majority of ways in which communication can be realized. WhatsApp has recently introduced the voice calling service to the smartphones run by Apple`s operating system, the iOS, as well, while WhatsApp on Android has been featuring voice calling since March this year.
A new step taken by Facebook toward communication dominance
So it seems that voice calling is not gone yet, and most of the analysts in the fields expressed their opinions on the matter, stating that voice calling may be around for a while. They have reckoned that such a service still satisfies the needs of the customers, since it is mainly functioning through a connection to a wi fi spot. This means that it does not consume your money, but your Internet, and even if it kind of looks like the same thing, wi fi voice calling may prove itself very useful if you want to save some dollars at the end of the month.
It is estimated that people in the United States make nearly 1 million phone calls every day. While it is true that they are a bit old fashioned and do not equal the advantages of the newer technologies, they still represent an important part of what communication means in the present days. But with less and less people putting the same high price on the traditional purpose of the phones, Facebook introduces voice calling to Android. The American social platform is already of global relevance, and has been constantly changing the world since the year of God 2004, turning from a Harvard undergrad idea into what most people call the most influential platform the Internet has ever seen.
The purpose of the new app by Facebook is not only providing a better voice calling service, in a modern approach and with numerous benefits. It is a firm reiteration of Facebook`s strategy to make an universal social tool out of itself. Even if this fact does not need confirmation any longer, it is almost impossible to bar such a powerful trend from its progressive ascension to conquer the world. It will be an extremely painful fall for Facebook, if you take into consideration that the bigger they are the harder they fall. Still, no signs of such a thing by now. Going back to the news to emphasize that.
What does `Hello` have to offer
The new app introduced by Facebook to the devices run by Android is called `Hello`. According to officials talking on behalf of the American social platform, among the new features that the Hello app brings, there is the ease of making free calls via a wi fi connection.
Users can find the new app in the Google Play store and they will probably not be surprised to hear that Hello is free to download to your smartphone. Android already had a voice calling service, but what Hello does it to modify the rather not popular dial app by Android with a program that enhances the social platform`s relevance. How do they do that? Well, the Facebook centered app Hello is based on three main aspects in order to accomplish that.
First of all, users of the new Hello app will no longer have to deal with calls from unrecognized contacts, which can prove to be annoying for a considerable number of people, functioning as an obstacle in the way of communication, since most people tend to not answer unrecognized calls. Do not worry, Facebook has come up with a solution to your problem. The Hello app will recognize the Facebook contacts affiliated to the number which made a call to your smartphone, so you will know whether its the new guy you met at that party yesterday who is calling or the Arab who was stalking you obsessively leaving comments in gibberish on your profile pics album. Hope you`re worth more than a couple camels.
Secondly, Hello provides a feature which makes it easier for you to prevent unwanted calls to reach your phone.
And in the third place, the new app which has been recently introduced to Android features a very neat search section. Such a feature will undoubtedly lend you a hand when you need to rapidly find the telephone number of various companies in your area, for example.
The Hello app if considered to be Facebook centered for other reasons as well. Most importantly, it functions in connection to other Facebook services. Within the free wi fi calling service provided by Hello, Voice over Internet Protocol, or more commonly known as VoIP will be promoted. In addition to that, Facebook has designed its new Android app in such a way that if a user missed a call, they will have the opportunity to reply via Messenger.
Until now, customers who own an Android powered smartphone have not felt the need to replace the dialer app which was pre installed by Android on their mobile device. There are many options for replacement, but not so many have achieved a considerable rate of popularity. The Hangouts dialer, developed by Google, is an app which has not yet proven itself as a hit on the market. The app has not yet reached the 5 million milestone of downloads from Google Play. However, an interest in such apps that bring forth innovative features has been reported by the download stats. Viber passed the 100 million downloads milestone, and the communication giant Skype has over 500 million downloads so far.
Resurrecting a Facebook-centered project
If you were to follow the genealogy tree of the biggest companies of the world, you would arrive to a controversial state of facts. All the products that people buy, all the services which they pay for, sometimes irrationally and without being in need of such things are manufactured by a short list of several corporations. It has already become the way our society is organized in this age, when you think about the enterprises` hunger for dominance in the market, for assimilating the promising new projects, for taking care of the ideas which have the potential of becoming the next big thing, in any field.
Facebook is by all means not an exception to the pattern of big companies. That is why, two years ago, the American social giant launched a project that was reckoned as very ambitious by the tech analysts. The name of the project was `Home` and Facebook`s plans with it were to make it a gate to the social platform`s hegemony onto smartphones. The app replaces the common screen of the Android mobile devices with a new one that featured notification from the News Feed and from all over the Facebook bundle of services. A Facebook centered operating system was an ambitious plan, but customers did not rush into it.
Now the American company launches voices calling to Android smartphones, in order to enhance the social platform`s relevance to mobile gadgets. Say Hello to the new app and embrace the virtual set of your social experience.
