Some say that the Apple iOS 7 Multipeer feature could revolutionize the way we communicate. The ones who first took advantage of this new feature are named Open Garden and are the developers of the FireChat app.
Once you log in the app you will find chatrooms that have 2 options: “everyone” and the “nearby” people. The “everyone” option will search for all users and the “nearby” option will search for the users who are using Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity and are logged in to the FireChat app. The “nearby” option lets you send messages without a mobile signal to people that are about 30 feet from you. How does it do it? By creating a network where each phone becomes like a node that allows you to send data to other nodes.
This type of data transferring is used for Apple’s AirDrop feature which makes it easier to send data and files to other iPhone users.
Another great feature about the FireChat app is that you can also send messages without revealing your identity because the info is sent from the app username not from your actual phone number. Hackers can’t break it either because it doesn’t use any internet connectivity.
FireChat App – availability and compatibility
The FireChat app is available for free download on every IOS 7 mobile devices and sources say that a version for Android is currently in the making.
This sounds like great news that could really take communication to a whole new level. Finger crossed.
