Google is ready to implement an ad blocking feature to its internet browser.

Google decided that it is better if they implement an ad blocking feature for Google Chrome. It is well-known that the company makes a lot of profit due to online advertising. It may be surprising for the rest, but the company actually plans to use this ad blocking system which could be activated by default in mobile and desktop versions of its Chrome browser.

Google wants to use an ad blocking feature to protect all Chrome users of unwanted ads

This move may be considered a defensive strategy rather than thinking that it is company’s way of showing that they changed their mind. By applying this ad blocking feature for Google Chrome, which is considered to be the most popular internet browser, Google expects users to utilize the default blocker rather than installing others which have already gained their popularity.

Google Chrome will only allow for some particular ads to appear on the user’s screen. The new ad blocking system will be announced in just a few weeks. Many advertising companies have considered adblocks to be a major threat to their business. For instance, Google needed to pay to become part of the ‘Acceptable Ads’ program developed by Eyeo. This company is known to be the developer of AdBlock Plus.

The company collaborates with the Coalition for Better Ads

This program allows advertising on Google Chrome and many other ads powered by Google to pass through the filters of Adblock Plus. The ads which will receive the title ‘acceptable’ will be evaluated as such by the Coalition for Better Ads. In March, this industry group, where Google is a member, has released their Better Ads Standards, trying to identify the type of ad experience which would be accepted by consumers.

Besides the fact that there is an apparent mismatch when thinking about Google which started implementing adblockers, this new measure imposed by the company will establish exactly what kind of ads Chrome users will be exposed to. If customers do not disable this ad blocking features, they will have a web experience which will be entirely established and ruled by Google.

On April 19, Google representatives stated that they are not willing to comment on any kind of speculations or rumors which were spread lately. They declared that they had worked with industry trades and the Coalition for Better Ads to analyze several methods through which Google could support the ad blocking feature.

Would you use the ad blocking system which will be developed by Google? Would you allow Google to manage what kind of ads you can be exposed to?
