What are solar – powered drones and what does Google want to do with them? As we said, the tech giant wants to offer the wonders of Internet (and its own services) to all people on the planet. This new added company to the Google team of experts produces high – altitude drones which will be used as a part in Google’s Project Loon. In an official statement related to the purchase, Google told The Wall Street Journal that
It’s still early days, but atmospheric satellites could help bring internet access to millions of people, and help solve other problems, including disaster relief and environmental damage like deforestation.
Titan Aerospace’s drones can be a major breakthrough in the competition of providing the world with Internet connection, as they can stay up in the air for years without needing to land, while being solar – powered gives them a much appraised feature of being ecologically friendly. This purchase adds to the competition of Google and Facebook future projects and their goals of offering high – speed Internet access and other facilities.
But speaking about drones, we won’t see them very soon hovering over the island of Tristan da Cunha, as the technology still has some tweaks and developments to endure. Even retail giant Amazon and its future plans of offering home – delivery services with the aid of flying drones admits that we are still in a science – fiction world, as perfecting the drone technology still needs some four – five years of research. This means that even if Google bought solar – powered drones maker company Titan Aerospace just now, it won’t have its machines up in the air tomorrow. However, the tech is here and is viable, so we will all stay tuned and follow the news.
