Going by the yearly product refresh cycle that all device manufacturers have settled down into, a new Nexus 5 smartphone can well be considered being in the making and it’s release date is definitely around the corner. And if you need further proof of something cooking on this front, well there are some hints that we can fall back on. First off, the particular page dedicated to the Google smartphone has ceased to exist at UK based retailer Carphone Warehouse. That it has been so for the past few weeks which make one to believe there should be more to it than inadequate supply. Perhaps this could be early signs marking the arrival of the Nexus 5.
Another related development is the white version of the said device that has gone out of stock at the Google Play Store. Sure it was a limited edition model and hence there are extremely thin chances of it making a comeback again. Sure these two somewhat similar developments could be mere coincidences with no relation between the two but that hasn’t stopped the rumor mongers to believe there could be more to it than meets the eye.
However, the entire guessing game does not stop here as there are a lot more questions crying for an answer. So we are equally curious to know who is going to be tasked with the manufacturing of the new Nexus smartphone. LG had put together the last Nexus iteration and is also leading the race as the likely contender for the Nexus 5 as well. LG itself is rumored to be launching its next gen G2 device which many believe will be a game changer in the premium smartphone segment.
As for its purported specs, that the Nexus 5 will be right up there among the best is all too evident. What the next Nexus could be packing in include a Snapdragon 600 chip (and not Snapdragon as that is believed to be powering the next Nexus 10 tablet) mated to a 2 GB RAM along with 8 to 16 GB of storage. Just for comparison’s sake, the upcoming LG G2 is believed to come with the Snapdragon 800 chip. Upfront it will be a 5 inch 1080p display while providing the power will be a 3140 mAh battery. Also, Google is reported to have joined hands with Nikon for the camera that the Nexus 5 will come integrated with, and is believed to include a 16 mp sensor. And of course, it will be Android 5.0 Key Lime ie running the entire show.
