What’s more, the tech giant sold the faulty phone as a premium product. According to users, the Pixel and Pixel XL’s microphone is so damaged that sometimes making a phone call is impossible. The company confirmed that the mic has a defect in “the solder connection on the audio codec” which causes the problems.
Google claims that only 1 percent of the phones are faulty. However, the sheer number of people complaining about the microphone in the first few weeks since its launch may suggest the problem is much more severe.
Affected users called for refunds. In return, Google replaced their devices with new ones which had the same issues. What’s more, the tech giant never discontinued the faulty phones despite the many reports from users.
Joining the Lawsuit
If you happen to have fallen for Google’s tactics you are likely qualified to join the class-action lawsuit. Experts claim that even if your Google Pixel has no issues, you are still able to join the suit because the case wants to do justice to all people in the U.S. that bought a Google Pixel or Pixel XLphone from Oct. 4, 2016 and present day.
Pixel owners that won’t be qualified are those who bought the device on a resale or are connected to Google, like workers, or the lawsuit, like judges and their family members.
For now, just by purchasing a Pixel phone makes you eligible for the lawsuit. Once the trial is approved, Pixel owners will be prompted by e-mail to actively join the suit. Users will have to submit a claim once the case is settled, if judges find Google does owe them some money.
