Google Cloud Platform has new storage options available. They made the announcement on Thursday saying that they are going to make some changes. The best news is that one of the changes is to reduce the price of these storage options. They are also going to add new options, better ones.
There are more storage options that customers can choose from in order to have the one that suits them best. The Multi-Regional Storage can replicate data from many Cloud centers in different locations.
The greatest announcement was that Google is going to launch a Coldline storage. This is the best option for people who access data only once a year or less. This is great for backups.
This new development was made more for capturing businesses that are in a competitive cloud market. The multi-regional storage is great for people who need reliability with their data. The Coldline storage is going to help Google compete storage options made by other companies like Amazon.
The Multi-Regional storage is going to let people store data in EU, Asia or U.S and then the data is going to be replicated in multiple locations. The price is really small, only 2.6 cents/GB every month and is made especially for videos and another content-delivery networks.
Coldline storage, the newest development, is going to let customers archive data and access it. Despite the fact that it is made for archiving, people can still access their data very fast and safe. In order to have this storage option for only 7 cents/GB every month for data stored. If you want to access the data you also need to pay 5 cents for every GB that you retrieved.
One of the 4 storage options is the Standard one which now had been renamed as Regional. This means that the data is only going to be available for one region. The rebranding has a new price too. From 2.6 cents it is now only 2 cents/GB every month.
The only storage option that remained unchanged was the Nearline that is made for infrequently accessed data.
In order for customers to decide which one of the 4 storage options is best for them, they can try all of them and they can change their option when they want to.
