The HTC One is going great guns right now though its makers surely aren’t resting on the laurels of the success of the One. Rather, a new improved successor to the One is already in the works. All of this is still very much on rumor territory, which means one has to ingest this with due caution.
The rest of the details pertaining to the upcoming HTC One version which will be an upgrade over the current version are scarce right now though there are some general trends that we can fall back on. Going by what the company has done with the HTC One X and the One X+, what can be safely concluded is that the upgraded HTC One will sport a better processor and an enhanced memory. Further, sources claim that the new HTC One upgrade has been tentatively named M8. Worth mentioning here, the current HTC One carried the code name M7. Its a Snapdragon 600 chip that currently does duty on the HTC One, maybe it will be Snapdragon 800 that will be included in the M8. But then, these are mere speculations right now.
Also, as per the UK based tech site Pocket Lint, the arrival of the HTC One upgrade will also mark the end of the road for the Butterfly series. Another surprise that HTC might have for us is a plastic cladded version of the HTC One though it’s not known if such an endeavor is to introduce a cheaper version of the current flagship device for sale in developing markets. This also comes as a surprise considering the Samsung Galaxy S4 is often criticized for its plastic build in spite of all the positive reviews that its performance has garnered, as much as the HTC One with its aluminum build is praised for its superiod build quality. However, some sources also point out the plastic HTC One will g on to replace the Butterflies as HTC attempts to project its One series as it flagship offering.
Lastly, the rumors sources further point out, the new upgraded HTC One as well as the plastic clad version will be ready for a launch in 2014.
