Unfortunately, the surreal building game ‘Fantastic Contraption’ and the VR game which allows you to learn how it is to have a job in a fully automatized world – ‘Job simulator – are no longer available for free. You can still buy them from the Steam gaming service for $29.99 each.
So, if you decide to purchase the new HTC headset, you’ll be handed over a voucher that will let you unlock three free titles: The Gallery – Episode 1: Call of the Starseed, Zombie Training Simulator, and Tiltbrush.
Experts said that the bundle pack is a good selection especially for users that have never tested a VR headset before. Google’s Tiltbrush and Cloudhead Games’ The Gallery can be purchased separately on steam or $29.99 each, while Acceleroto’s Zombie Training Simulator can be bought for $19.99.
Call of the Starseed is a very immersive action-adventure game that has gathered positive reviews on Steam. It has the looks of an old-fashioned adventure game for PC or console but it is powered by VR technology.
Yet, unlike old-school games, you can move around in the game by pointing in the direction you want to go and you can also use a teleportation system very similar to the one in the first person stealth-action game Dishonored.
The game is attentively curated since HTC plans to use it to demonstrate what VR technology can do to potential users.
Tiltbrush is a 3-D painting VR game developed by Google which enables users to create lights and patterns of lights in the darkness. The resulting art creations are quite impressive and the program was deemed Vive’s “killer app.” Nevertheless, critics said that it is no match to Fantastic Contraption, which is more suited to experienced users.
The final title in the bundle is Zombie Training Simulator which resembles an old-school 2-D game with a VR touch. The game is not immersive but it makes for a decent shooting gallery.
