Both have had extensive leaks and images on the web, showing them in their full form. The iPhone 5S looks almost identical to the iPhone 5, as we expected from the S model. The iPhone 5C looks like the iPhone 3GS without the curved back, with a polycarbonate and fibre-glass design.
iPhone 5S
The iPhone 5S will come with three colour options, according to a recent leak. The three colours will include black, white and gold. We have heard this rumour when the iPhone 5 was being leaked about, but nothing came of it. The camera on the iPhone 5S will either be 8MP or 13MP with a f/2.0 aperture, allowing more light to be captured.
Inside the iPhone 5S we may see the new A7 chipset and 2GB of RAM for smoother multitasking on iOS7. Apple will not change the display resolution on the iPhone 5S, keeping the retina display. Sadly, in light of the new Android smartphones on the market, the 720p retina display is starting to get redundant compared to the competition.
iPhone 5C
The iPhone 5C will be coming in multiple colours, we have already seen neon green, mellow yellow, fuchsia, white, black and some other wacky options. Apple is taking most of the colours from the iPod Touch line and adding a few more.
This is where the fun stops for the iPhone 5C, obviously Apple is looking to target developing markets like China with this new smartphone. We do not know the internals, but it is likely to be a mix of iPhone 4S and iPhone 5 technology, with iOS7 slapped on top.
Tim Cook recently met with China Mobile’s President, presumably on the subject of getting the iPhone 5C onto the TD-SCDMA network, which is proprietary technology. This would be the first iPhone to ever run on the network, if Cook’s talks succeeded.
Release Date
According to several sources, Apple will market the iPhone 5S at $199 on contract and the iPhone 5C for free on a two year contract. This means the iPhone 4S will be dropped from the lineup of smartphones, with the iPhone 5 sitting in the middle at $99 on a two year contract.
