The iPhone 5S is the smartphone we are all waiting to see. The super powered variation of the iPhone 5 is likely to improve on the admittedly very little that is wrong with Apple’s latest handset. Although Apple has not confirmed the device is coming, it seems obvious that it is, after-all the company has always backed up its current iPhone with an S model since the iPhone 3S.
So with that in mind there has been a ton of rumours surrounding the handset, and one of the most concrete was the leaked images of the iPhone 5S on a production line in a Chinese factory. China is the principle manufacturing hub for Apple, so we suspected the images were the real deal, but a closer inspection makes us a little more sceptical.
The photos appeared on zol.com.cn, and later went global as the tech media went crazy at the word iPhone. Unfortunately it seems almost certain that these photos are fake, and are in fact showing the manufacturing process of a knock-off Chinese iPhone replica. China has become a hotbed of fake products, and the iPhone is one of the most popular.
Aside from showing just how closely these cheap Chinese fakes can mimic Apple’s product, these photos are useless. Steve Hemmerstoffer of Expert Reviews has found several flaws in the photos, all of which mean we are not seeing the iPhone 5S.
There is no Lightening Connector, there is a slot for an SD card, while the parts are just way below what Apple would ever use in it marquee handset. So no, this is not the iPhone 5S, but do not get too upset, because the device is definitely coming, it is just a matter of when.
