As soon as Apple launched the iPhone 5 last year so started the iPhone 5S rumours. We know the device will come eventually because the Cupertino based company always backs up its iPhone handsets with an S version, a sort of special edition of the iPhone standard. As 2013 stretches before us the rumours surrounding Apple’s latest smartphone are gathering pace, so what do we know about the next incarnation of the company’s all-conquering iPhone?
Far from just picking up on any old speculation we have been looking around at a series of rumours that all seem to tie together and agree on a few things such as release date, specs, and other details. The rumours help us see clearer what Apple is planning for this latest iPhone update, and indeed the new version operating system that it will run on, iOS 7.
Apple is also said to be working on a budget iPhone and a large screen iPhone, although we think a budget device flies in the face of what the company stands for. While we could see a large-screen iPhone we suspect it would not land until 2014, but we do know that the iPhone 5S is coming, and quite possibly an iPhone 6 will be launched later in the year.
In terms of release dates for the iPhone 5S, we are hearing a lot about April or May, which certainly seems logical considering Apple will likely launch a new iPhone in September or October. An April release for the iPhone 5S would give it market space and visibility before any launch of the iPhone 6 later in the year. Some rumours suggest a summer release, but we suspect that is a tad too late, so we are going for a spring release. Look out tomorrow for an in-depth review of what the iPhone 5S is likely to be like, and what things we can expect to see.
