It was just a few weeks ago that Sony had let out a few more details about the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for many of its handsets including the Xperia SL, S and acro S. The announcement was that most of these devices are going to be moving to the more advanced OS Android Jelly Bean 4.1 latest by the 31st of May.
Users of such devices have been waiting for quite a while now for the Android 4.1 update to arrive. This may have even led to quite a few users losing trust in the brand. At least as far as updates are concerned. There is light at the end of the tunnel though as updates have finally been confirmed and there isn’t much of a waiting period either.
We believe that Android 4.1.2 is going to be released on all three Xperia phones mentioned above. The main reason for this is because the latest firmware version (build 6.2.B.0.200) has finally got certified by PTCRB. This build version does seem a lot similar to the one (build 6.2.B.0.197) that was leaked last month though. This build was approved for all Xperia SL, S and Acro S cell phones.
This does make us believe that Sony will indeed keep their promise and release the updates latest by the 31st of May.
In terms of what to expect to gain from the update. You can expect a whole new WALKMAN experience as well as new Album and Movies apps. Google Now has been integrated into the device as well and you can now add many more panes to your home screen. There is also the new STAMINA mode which helps increase the battery life of devices. We also hear of Project Butter which is supposed to increase performance of the devices.
