Lenovo has launched its new Miix 320 Windows laptop which costs about $199. Developers hope that this device would surpass the performance of Chromebooks. The Stream devices developed by HP represent in competition with the new Miix 320. However, the new technology developed by Lenovo features several characteristics which make it unique.
On February 20, the device was announced during the Mobile World Congress. The new Miix 320 Windows laptop will ship in April, while the version equipped with a pen will be launched in July. The most innovative feature is that the new Miix 320 is a 2-in-1 detachable laptop. This type of technology is not to be found among Chromebooks.
The device was developed with a magnetic joint which links the keyboard and the display halves. Nevertheless, owners can easily use the 10.1-inc display as a tablet. The screen is smaller compared to the screen of Chromebooks which measures 11 inches. However, its amazing resolution of 1920 x 1200 is better compared to the resolution of most tablets, featuring 1366 x 768.
Apparently, some analysts who already used the device argue that its keyboard is better than the one of Chromebooks. Those have hard plastic buttons which do are not as comfortable as the one implemented on the Lenovo device. The incorporated Microsoft Precision Trackpad recognizes some swiping gestures which help the user to navigate through Windows 10.
Usually, laptops which are so small experience connectivity issues. Nevertheless, this is not the case for the new Miix 320 Windows laptop. The device has a USB-C port on the half featuring the display, while the keyboard half has two other USB-A ports. The 2-in-1 laptop is equipped with an LTE option, making it possible for owners to use anywhere they want.
However, analysts announce bad news too. The revolutionary device is outfitted with an Intel Atom X5 processor. This indicates that users need to limit themselves to some mainstream apps and Web-browsing. Nevertheless, the new Miix 320 has an extended battery life, lasting for about ten hours before being charged again. The laptop features 4GB of RAM, while the eMMC storage reaches 128GB.
Unlike with Chromebooks, users need to save 20GB for Windows OS. Analysts argued that it is too early to find out whether the new device will be able to surpass the performance of Chromebooks.
