LG recently issued a press release confirming it will attend CES 2015 and revealing that it plans to implement no less than six different technologies in the upcoming year. Two concern color updates, one is related to design, two will deal with the interface and one with sound technology.
LG’s greatest advancement at CES 2015 is by far the Quantum Dot Technology. However, Sony has alreday implemented it couple of years ago within a series of its TVs. According to the LG’s release, the TVs equipped with Quantum Dot will display a 30% enhanced color range as compared to a typical 4K TV. If shoppers prefer to remain loyal to regular LED TVs, they can go for LG’s Wide Color LED which provides a 25% color scale increase.
Another feature advertised by the company is the design of the TVs. The Ultra Slim configuration makes LG’s electronics both thinner and lighter. Nevertheless, some TV’s are bound to weight more than others. Five UHD TVs will also be equipped with a kardon/harman multichannel speaker system designed to create a surround sound effect.
LG’s new listings will run, as before, webos 2.0. The software allows customers to enter apps and other linked features. An additional interface upgrade will make the program work quicker and give users the possibility of personalizing the Launcher Bar in order to open their top programs more rapidly.
Even if 4K TVs are already a standard, the 4K content industry is still lagging behind. For that reason, the Upscaler algorithm used with LG’s 4k is supposed to make both standard and high- definition content look more like real UHD.
Interestingly, LG has failed to mention anything in its news alert about OLED. Though the company is one of the few producers which still design OLED TVs, shoppers haven’t received any information about new generation LG OLEDs since Berlin’s IFA in 2014. The future of TVs relies now on how well the less expensive Quantum Dot innovation works.
