Picture the year of 1975. You`re right, that was 40 years ago. Still, we could have an imaginary travel to that time and answer to the question: were mere people thinking about having full time free access to a computer? Or was it more of a perspective on future days, far from the 7th decade of the twentieth century, or a imaginary thought?
Most probably, common people that had nothing to do with technology or innovations in this area had no idea that not much time would until a computer could be found in almost every home.
When you look back, it is really impressive. Something huge happened to change the life of the human beings, as it was before the arrival of personal computers, let alone the coming of the World Wide Web. Microsoft`s efforts in those good old days certainly represent an important feature of the road that the human being had to start and is still passing, the road to another, very different type of human, maybe similar to the one that the big dreamers of all time pictured in their sci fi novels or films.
The company named Microsoft was founded on this day, 4th of April, 40 years ago. Bill Gates wrote a moving letter on this very special occasion. The letter was mainly addressed to the employees at Microsoft, even if Bill Gates, the co-founder of the company has not been in the position of chief executive officer for some time now. He wanted to express the way he felt about the company, the people working at Microsoft and the strong relationship that he still had with what is, maybe, one of the most important things of his life.
In the letter, Bill Gates expressed his appreciation for the chief executive officer, Satya Nadella.
“Under Satya’s leadership, Microsoft is better positioned than ever to lead these advances. We have the resources to drive and solve tough problems. We are engaged in every facet of modern computing and have the deepest commitment to research in the industry. In my role as technical advisor to Satya, I get to join product reviews and am impressed by the vision and talent I see. The result is evident in products like Cortana, Skype Translator, and HoloLens — and those are just a few of the many innovations that are on the way.”
Even if Gates wrote about the beginnings of the company and about its present, he emphasized that the most important aspect is how thing will go on for Microsoft.
“We have accomplished a lot together during our first 40 years and empowered countless businesses and people to realize their full potential. But what matters most now is what we do next. Thank you for helping make Microsoft a fantastic company now and for decades to come, ”
Bill Gates stated.
