While there is no end to the smartphone war in the global market there are many technology companies that are making sure that they bring out better operating systems that can cater to the growing smartphone population. While Android, Windows Phone and Apple iOS are all struggling to get more consumers in the market share, Mozilla Firefox has decided to join the competition with their own operating system which is an open web based operating system on the same lines as Android. Mozilla believes that the open web option will allow developers to come up with better apps that can improve the overall smartphone experience.
Mozilla believes that they will come up with their new operating system that will be launched officially in July 2013 and will have the support of 13 wireless service providers around the world.
The company also claims that the Firefox OS is very much different from that of Android and iOS that are leading the market competition because although they have more options but there are certain customizations that are only possible in the new Firefox OS. At the moment, Mozilla Firefox OS is only available with manufacturers like LG, ZTE and Alcatel One Touch and Huawei.
The major difference between the Android and iOS operating system and Mozilla Firefox OS is that Firefox OS will not need any proprietary technology to make apps. The operating system makes use of the HTML5 web applications and therefore anybody that understands the HTML5 language will be able to make apps as per convenience. Mozilla has already announced that they will showcase some of their applications and devices at the Mobile World Congress 2013 that is held in Barcelona. However, Mozilla Firefox OS will have lot to improve because it is likely that the OS will be unable to handle top apps like Facebook as Facebook has stopped using HTML5 technology.
