The idea of a wider and larger tablet on Windows Phone 8 is exciting, considering the various sizes of tiles could be altered to fit the different screen sizes. Imagine if the user could have six different tiles on one row, it would be incredible for a user who has lots of apps.
The Nokia Lumia 1520 is an odd name, 500 more than the current flagship, we aren’t sure how long Nokia can stick with this numbering process. We just don’t feel Nokia Lumia 9000 will be appropriate, but at the pace currently we should see that before 2018.
With the Windows Phone 8 GDR3 update, Microsoft will apparently add a large amount of features to the mobile OS. Lots of Nokia fans and even some Nokia executives have said the pace of Microsoft on their mobile OS is snail pace, with Nokia pushing out apps faster than Microsoft.
The GDR3 update will bring 1080p and quad-core support to Windows Phone 8 OEM partners. This is good Nokia, who is trying to compete in any way possible with Android competitors. The only feature Nokia can currently win at is the camera, with a 41MP shooter that has no strong rival.
We should see the Nokia Lumia 1520 make an appearance after the GDR3 update, allowing Nokia to add a quad-core processor and 1080p screen to the phablet. This will not be a direct flagship takeover, instead, the Lumia 1020 will be offered as a small variant and the Lumia 1520 will be for those who want a larger Windows Phone 8 device.
Nokia Bandit = Lumia 1520
