This month, Overwatch is turning two, and Blizzard is determined to celebrate accordingly. Players will receive special items and surprises, such as those seasonal goodies that everyone enjoyed and missed. On top of that, Blizzard also thought about those who couldn’t afford buying Overwatch. On its birthday, the game will go free to play for a weekend.
Overwatch will be free-to-play for one weekend on its two year anniversary
Blizzard thought Overwatch’s two year anniversary couldn’t go undetected, so it organized an entire event to celebrate it. Starting May 22nd and up until June 11th, you will be able to enjoy the event across all platforms. To access it, all you’ll have to do will be to log in on the game. Blizzard remained secretive about the starting moment of the event but, if you joined the past anniversary events, it should be around 2 p.m.
One first goodie brought by the two year anniversary would be the game itself. Not everyone could afford buying Overwatch, so some people have never played although they had wanted to. Therefore, Blizzard decided to give them the chance to make up their mind. Between May 25th and 28th, you’ll have an entire weekend to download the game for free, play it, and decide if it’s worth purchasing or not.
The event has plenty of surprises for older players
The two year anniversary event has some surprises for the Overwatch veterans as well. They will receive a special Deathmatch map called Petra, but also an exciting Competitive Mode. Here, you’ll be able to rate your skills, go on placement matches, and see where you are situated on the leaderboards. On top of that, we add some exclusive skins, as well as dancing emotes for some new characters.
Blizzard knew many users enjoyed the past dancing emotes of last year. Therefore, the two year anniversary event will bring them back, as well as a few of the seasonal challenges. You will find all these special items via loot boxes that you’ll get for each login. The surprise will include one exclusive legendary loot box, as well as other surprises if you’re going to purchase more.
