Sony’s PlayStation announced the special PS4 anniversary gaming console with only 12.300 units made will come in Original PlayStation Grey color.
This also applies to the Dual Shock4 Headset, controller and camera. While the console offers a new and innovative design, it is the same PS4 console but more expensive. It is said that the release price will be set at 500 U.S dollars, which is 100 dollars more than the standard PS4.
Each anniversary console will be marked with a serial number so that people will know which of the 12.300 units they purchased.
The design of the system will bear similarities to the first PS console, but much more futuristic. The meaning behind the number of consoles on sale (12.300) will match the date when PlayStation released its very first console which is Dec 3rd 1994.
We all know that Microsoft and Sony have always been rivals when it comes to their gaming consoles, but this aspect didn’t stop Phill Spencer, Xbox boss, to issue a statement in which he congratulated Sony Corporation for its 20th PlayStation anniversary.
Since the 20th anniversary PlayStation 4 console is a limited edition item, fans will not be able to acquire this system from retail stores. It is known that for North America, consumers will be able to place a pre purchase order on Sony’s Corporation official website.
Unfortunately Sony has not yet released any information on how consumers will be able to get their hands on this limited edition console, but news regarding this matter is expected to hit information channels on December 6th, on Saturday. Whatever the case may be, we expect the new product to run out fast.
PlayStation has sold 100 million units of its first gaming console between its release in 1994 and the year 2000 when they released the second generation gaming console, which still holds the record being the top seller console even this day. The company sold 155 gaming consoles by 2012. Statistics show that PlayStation has outsold many competition items over the years such as N64 by 3 to 1 and Saturn by a ratio of 10 to 1 products, placing it on the fourth place as a piece of gaming hardware ever released.
The latest gaming console system PS4, was the fastest selling video game console with 1 million units shipped out in just 24 hours after its release.
