The tablet market is very much on fire and it remained that way in the year 2012 where most consumers decided to go for some of the top tablet models that were launched in the market. International Data Corporation also popular known as IDC has now come up with their new survey report which claims that Apple and Samsung has managed to capture the tablet market in the fourth quarter of the year 2012.
The report also claims that tablets sales were better than in the previous year 2011 but not all top technology giants managed to make it in the top slot in the fourth quarter of the year 2012. According to IDC report, Microsoft did not make it among the top five companies in the list even after launching the much anticipated Surface tablet. The report also highlights the fact that the market share of Apple has been declining over the fourth quarter because of tough competition from other rival firms like Samsung.
Some of the technology experts have also claimed that the sales of tablets and smartphones have impacted the sales of personal computers and that is clearly visible with poor performance of top computer manufacturers like Dell. As per the new report tablet shipments in the fourth quarter of the year 2012 reached 52.2 million units which is definitely higher than the sales of computers.
IDC also claims that in the year 2012 the growth of tablets have improved by 75.3% which is a huge jump in one year period time. Most consumers are spending more money on tablets probably because of the low price range and better technologies that are very much on the same lines as personal computer. Samsung remains the market leader with 263% growth shipping more than 8 million Android and Windows based tablets across the globe capturing 15% of the global market.
