The Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 shares a lot of similarities with the Galaxy Note 10.1, Samsung’s previous flagship Android tablet. The back faux leather stitching, faux metal accents and plastic front with physical button is the same on both tablets.
Internally there is more of the same, the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 comes with a 2560 x 1600-pixel display, 1.9GHz octa-core processor or Snapdragon 800, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, 8MP rear camera and a huge 9500mAh battery.
The spec we are really interested in is the battery, a 9500mAh battery is about three times the size of the average smartphone and twice the size of the average tablet battery. We really want to see some results with this much battery life, hopefully the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 will be last more than two days.
On the software side, the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 comes packing the latest version of Android KitKat 4.4 alongside TouchWiz UI. Samsung has developed some more features for the larger screen, most notably Magazine UX, a tile based application home-screen.
In the announcement, Samsung pointed to over $700 of pre-paid subscriptions to a few magazines and Dropbox, LinkedIn and Evernote, amongst others. This could be quite the bargain for someone on a lot of the networks.
Samsung says the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 will be release worldwide sometime in Q1 this year and we still do not know the price. It will be $200 more than the Galaxy Note 10.1 we suspect, considering the ‘Pro’ moniker and the larger screen size.
CES was not just home to one Samsung tablet announcement, the company added three new Tab tablets, a 12.2-inch model, 10.1-inch model and an 8.4-model, all three looking competitive against the iPad.
