Nook offers a new tablet. It is not actually that new because it is a redesigned Samsung Galaxy Tab. The new product is called Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook. The collaboration between Barnes & Nobles and Samsung delivers a skinned 7 inch tablet with decent specs.
The tablet runs Android KitKat 4.4 with Samsung’s TouchWiz interface added on. Although many accuse Samsung that its added skin on smartphones and tablets tends to slow the devices down, it comes with some benefits. One such benefit is that apps can be opened in multiple windows.
So the tablet sports a 7 inch 1280 X 720 pixels display and a quad core processor running at 1.2 Ghz. It is equipped with two cameras, one producing 3 MP images, while the other only 1.3 MP ones. The internal storage capacity is 8 GB and the RAM capacity is of 1.5 GB. The storage capacity can be extended through a MicroSD card. Wireless communication is ensured by a Wi-FI module, as no 3G module has been announced. Fortunately, the tablet has an embedded GPS module.
We already introduced the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 line a couple of months ago. We concluded that basically they offer a satisfying price to quality ratio.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook will cost $179 and will be available in Barnes & Noble stores. Moreover, there are $200 worth of ebooks and apps coming as a gift with the tablet. The company even offers an instant $20 rebate on its website. The Nook app offers you the possibility to buy ebooks and other products from Barnes & Nobles.
“The Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 NOOK is the most advanced NOOK ever, delivering the great NOOK experience our customers have come to love, with the high-performance tablet features they’ve asked for. We invite reading and entertainment fans to visit their local Barnes & Noble store to experience the new Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 NOOK. Once they do, we’re certain they will make this innovative device part of their daily routine,” said Michael P. Huseby, Chief Executive Officer of Barnes & Noble, Inc.
Barnes & Nobles decided at the beginning of this year they will not produce another branded tablet. However, they teamed with Samsung in June and announced the future release of Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook.
