At the end of August, Samsung released the first smartwatch that doesn’t need a smartphone to make calls; it’s called the Samsung Gear S smartwatch and it’s quite impressive. It seems that the company doesn’t get any sleep at all, because yesterday Samsung unveiled three new products: two Galaxy Note smartphones and a Virtual Reality device. Read on and find out more about the Samsung products!
Samsung Unveiled Three New Products, Getting Ahead of Apple
Samsung is eager to differentiate itself from its competition and that is why, we believe, it chose to launch three new products (including two new smartphones) five days before Apple is scheduled to launch its new iPhone 6 and only a week after it launched its Samsung Gear S.
In an event that took place in New York yesterday, September 3, Samsung unveiled three new products: the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, the Galaxy Edge and the Gear VR, which is a virtual reality headset that Samsung created in partnership with Oculus.
The Gear VR is indeed a spectacular device, the first VR headset that is completely independent; it is not connected by wires to anything, but it does require the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 to function. That’s right, it won’t work with anything else, except the new Galaxy Note 4.
Aside from this VR device, Samsung introduced the Galaxy Edge, which is the first smartphone in the world whose edge is a touchscreen. You can flick the edge of the screen and easily access news, Twitter or favorite apps. It’s a wonderful idea, but one that we don’t believe will catch on at all. Why do we need a screen that curves and functions as a touchscreen? Think about it and if you can come up with answers, we’d love to hear them out.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 was the star of the event. It features a better screen resolution and pixel density. It has an optical image stabilizer for the camera, which is a first for a smartphone. Basically, it is an improved version of the Note 3.
