Sega wanted to bring something special for the nostalgia-stricken players, so will soon launch the Forever collection. This will gather several of the classic titles which everybody came to love, and will be available for free on mobile.
The Sega Forever collection is free, but it has ads
The prospect of having all your childhood games free of charge and ready for you to play must make everybody excited. However, Sega needs a way to drive some revenue, so the games will contain ads. You may find this bothering, but they will help the company support playing while offline and bring dozens of modern features to the games, such as cloud saves.
If you really can’t stand ads, there’s a way to get rid of them. For a one-time purchase of $1.99, you can get the games without being interrupted by advertisements. This is a great deal, since such titles can rarely be found for such a price, so you simply cannot say no to it.
Bringing classic games back on the market
At launch, Sega Forever already brings five classics. These are Sonic the Hedgehog, Comix Zone, Phantasy Star II, Altered Beast, and Kid Chameleon. You can find them on Google Play Store for Android, and on the App Store for iOS. The iOS versions will come with special stickers for iMessages displaying your favorite characters.
Sega has big plans, and will not stop here. The company plans to release new titles every two weeks and add them to the collection. It will also include several console generations so, shortly, players should be able to enjoy mostly the entire Sega collection on their mobile phones.
Usually, video game companies have a limited time when they can extract revenue from classic titles, so it is understandable that they do all sorts of tricks to prolong the life of their games. Sega came up with a great idea, and most players must be excited to have all these titles available for free only a touch away.
