It is certainly a pity if you have become enthusiastic about the release of the newest Silent Hills game over the last days, because it seems like the rumors are true. Fans all over the world sigh in unison with Silent Hills officially cancelled, now that the Japanese game developer and publisher has confirmed the talk in the gaming forums about the supposed truth on Monday.
In the first phase of this controversy, the Japanese game publisher has declined the comments that had already appeared in the discussions between gamers on the world wide web. But it seems that after the Japanese company has invalidated the suggestions about the termination of the new Silent Hills project, officials talking on behalf of the company have released a statement to Kotaku in which the rumors have been confirmed, in spite of the growing enthusiasm which has been shown by the fans in the days following the announcement of the ninth game of the famous horror franchise.
“Konami is committed to new Silent Hill titles, however the embryonic Silent Hills project, developed with Guillermo del Toro and featuring the likeness of Norman Reedus, will not be continued,”
was the comment that the Japanese developer Konami has made in connection to the matter.
This announcement which has confirmed the termination of the new Silent Hills project has been preceded by another round of rumors concerning the departure of Hideo Kojima, a few weeks ago. Hideo Kojima was one of the directors of the project and the announcement of he leaving Konami made some of the people who had interest in the situation ask a few questions and it seems that they were legitimate to do so.
Some struggles between the staff working for Kojima Productions and Konami started a very serious divergence between the two companies. The conflict escalated to the point in which the Japanese publisher announced that they were looking for another team to lead the Metal Gear game projects that were to come.
The way in which the events unfolded made everybody curious about how the Silent Hills will turn out to be like. The game was planned to be directed by Kojima and the development of the game was to be done in partnership with the director Guillermo del Toro.
However, Konami has stated that they are open to new collaborations, though many voices that are connected to the situation suggest that most probably Kojima will not be part of the new team.
