On September 29th, Nintendo will release its long-awaited SNES Classic Edition console. After last year’s fiasco involving SNES’ predecessor, NES Classic Edition, gamers are definitely looking forward to this release. However, there’s one more reason why they should hurry up and get their hands on such a console. Nintendo revealed it might be hiding a surprise trick.
SNES Classic Edition allows you to rewind games
Last year, Nintendo released the NES Classic Edition console, which took the company by surprise with the immense popularity it faced. Unfortunately, it wasn’t ready for such a huge demand, as it released fewer samples than they should have, and many stores were undersupplied.
Now, Nintendo wanted to fix that huge mistake and brought the SNES Classic Edition. The vintage console will let you play all your favorite childhood games and relive the golden ages, but it also has another secret trick. Depending on the game you’re playing, you can choose to rewind it back to one minute.
The console also sports two new graphic features
In case you are fighting tough villains, or just feel like you should have spared more effort earlier in the game, you can just hit “Rewind” and go back to trying again. Therefore, you won’t have to see how you keep losing and the game starts back at the beginning, just to reach a dead end again. This might sound like cheating, but it’s allowed by Nintendo, so we might make an exception this time.
Apart from rewinding, SNES Classic Edition brings two additional new features. If you don’t like the black background offered by the console, it offers you a series of frames you can choose to replace the boring default one. The second feature allows you to set a screensaver consisting of footage of your own gameplay.
The console will come in a box, together with two controllers and 21 games, for only $79.99. However, to unlock the 21st title, you need to complete the Star Fox game, as it represents the long-awaited unreleased sequel, Star Fox 2.
