Remember that old game with a blue hedgehog named Sonic? Sega, the company that launched several versions of Sonic the Hedgehog is now launching Sonic Mania. This game is going to come to Xbox One, Play Station, and Nintendo Switch. Sega also revealed the price of the game and the preorder bonuses.
Sonic Mania – the New Old Game
Sega revealed the fact that Sonic Mania is going to be launched this year, on Aug 15. The price of the game is going to be around $20. This first version of this game appeared in 1991 and it was named Sonic the Hedgehog. Other versions were released after, but none really rose to the expectations. Now, the latest addition to the franchise comes with extra treats. For example, people can play the game on multiple and better consoles.
A lot of gamers were disappointed when Sega announced that the release date of the game is going to be pushed back for this summer. Initially, Sonic was programmed to entertain the masses this spring, but Sega felt the game wasn’t quite ready, so it decided to delay the much-awaited launch until fall.
Preorder for Bonuses
Luckily, those who simply cannot wait to go on new adventures with Sonic can preorder the game for free. Even more, they encouraged to do so. All players who preorder the latest Sonic version will receive several bonuses including themes, avatars, additional content, and discounts.
The company announced that Sonic Mania is not just a new version of older Sonic games. Sonic Mania is going to feature more than 15 reworked stages with many new levels. New moves for Sonic and boss fights have been added to the game. Gamers can also play with Tails and Knuckles, one every level. All of them run on 60 frames per second.
Sonic Mania is not the only Sonic game created by Sega. The company mentioned that they want to release another Sonic game named Sonic Forces. The latter is going to be a 3D adventure unlike Sonic Mania which is a 2D game. In Sonic Forces, the character runs in a city devastated by giant robots, so some fans are criticizing the company for revamping old stories instead of coming up with new ones.
