Scheduled for a 2013 Q2 launch, the Xperia Tablet Z has grabbed the attention of many a tablet enthusiast. However, its release date has been delayed across several regions, and now its Canada’s turn to endure a delay. The May 22nd Canada release date has been postponed to June 3rd.
The Xperia Tablet Z, announced at the 2013 Mobile World Congress, was originally scheduled for an April launch in the UK. But, Sony delayed the UK launch date to late May. For US consumers, the original release date of May 25th has been rescheduled to May 29th. Canadian customers were allowed to place pre-orders from the beginning of May.
The stellar tablet has been widely acclaimed for its rugged build – water-proof and dust resistant – and Sony has touted the success of its pre-order campaign, calling it the best in the history of the company.
The most conspicuous feature of the Xperia Tablet Z is its amazingly thin profile, measuring just 10.1 inches thick. The tablet runs on Android 4.1.2 Jelly bean and comes in 16GB and 32GB storage versions. It features an LCD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 and has an 8MP rear camera. Powered by a Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core processor clocking at 1.5GHz and 2GB RAM, the Xperia Tablet Z is likely to be a huge success.
Though Sony has mentioned about the remarkable pre-order sales of the tablet, it did not reveal any numbers to comprehend the exact picture. Sony’s Z-series of smartphones and tablets have an astounding success record, meaning that the Xperia Tablet Z will follow the same line.
Given the premium features, the pricing seems appropriate, with the price tag of $499 for the 16GB version and $599 for the 32GB version.
