The company SpaceX is working on their new satellite system project, asking for the government’s approval to test it. This project is bound to launch into space a constellation of satellites meant to beam Internet service to our entire planet. The application was sent last week to the Federal Communications Commission. It proposes the developing and launching of a fleet of 4,400 satellites prone to cover the surface of our planet.
To accomplish the plan, SpaceX is waiting to receive its approval to start working on the new satellite system project, being allowed to use the waves of wireless to power the network. The satellites would be situated at about seven hundred kilometers in the orbit of Earth, providing a speed of 1 gigabit/second. Every Internet user will be able to benefit from high-speed Internet.
This broadband is similar to the one received through a premium Internet service. Based on the data dispatched through the mechanical attachment, the satellite system is generated to acquire a broad range of communications services and frequency for all types of institutions and professional users from all over the world.
After the new project of SpaceX completes its evolution, it will traverse the entire surface of our planet, gaining the ability to acquire omnipresent worldwide service. Every satellite will be enabled to cover an area of about 1,300 miles, regularly communicating with other satellites to share traffic loads. Elon Musk, the chief executive of SpaceX, had announced this satellite system project back in 2015.
He had approximated the costs to reach about $10 billion, his service being the best alternative to inefficient Internet services available on the ground. He has also argued that this could be an opportunity for those who got stuck with the services provided by Comcast or Time Warner.
However, Elon Musk’s company is not the first one who thought of such a practical option of developing a satellite system bound to provide Internet connection for the whole planet. SpaceX may be in competition with Google and Facebook which had also explored this innovative and efficient possibility. OneWeb is another company willing to offer satellite broadband, planning the building of a broad number of satellites. Fidelity Corporation together with Google has invested in the project implemented by SpaceX to develop a new satellite system.
