T-Mobile was supposed to be the first carrier to offer the Nokia Lumia 521 in the US though that obviously did not happen. Even Magenta was believed to offer the Lumia 521 before anyone else in the US though that too did not materialize. Instead it was left to Home Shopping Network to have the distinction of being the first to be offering the budget Lumia device in the US. That was on the 27th April and the phone too is priced incredibly low at just $149. That is also the price that is devoid of any contract obligations and includes a few free goodies as well which includes free car charger, screen protector as well as free shipping to top it all.
However, that does not mean T-Mobile is out of the picture entirely. Rather, the carrier has stated it will be joining the party on May 22nd, which is when the Lumia 521 will be seen on offer from both online and retail locations of T-Mobile. Price is a lot sweeter in that users will have to pay just $29.99 initially followed by $5 every month for the next 2 years. Plan charges as applicable will be levied extra.
However, if you can’t wait that long, Microsoft Store will also be offering the Lumia 521 from May 11 though the price is the same $149. Walmart too will have the Lumia 521 on offer from May 11 though its price is even lower at $129.99.
As for its specs, the Nokia Lumia comes with an attractive internal layout in that it is powered by a 1 GHz processor, 512 MB RAM along with 8 GB of internal storage. There is also a microSD card slot to allow for more memory expansion. The phone runs Windows 8 and offers a 4 inch display having a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. The Lumia 521 is the cheapest phone running the latest Windows 8 operating system.
