Samsung Tablet 10.1 Review: Perfect for Your Entertainment Needs

October 29, 2020 By Daniel Giordano Leave a Comment

Unless you spend a lot of time checking out new tech products, you probably do not know too much about the Samsung Tablet 10.1. Luckily, in this Samsung Tablet 10.1 review, we tell you everything you need to know about the entertainment prioritizing product.

While there are plenty of tablets you can choose from in today’s market, there are still only three brands that offer a competitive edge over the others in terms of compatibility, performance, and features. One of these brands is the Samsung Tablet 10.1.

But does the product deserve the reputation as a significant contender in the tablet market? And how does it compare with the other brands? Is the Samsung Tablet 10.1 worth the investment?

In this Samsung Tablet 10.1 review, we take an in-depth look at the product and help you decide whether it is a good fit for your needs.

We also stack it up against the two other popular brands so you can have some alternatives if you realize it is not for you. So, without further adieu, let us take a look at the Samsung Tablet 10.1 review.

What is the Samsung Tablet 10.1?

While some tablets, like the iPad, features a wide range of performance features — from app usage to work tools — others feature a more specialized field of benefits. The Samsung Tablet 10.1 is one of these tablets, and its specialization falls under the entertainment category.

As the name suggests, the device features a ten point one inch, high-resolution screen for watching movies and television. The display also makes it great for playing mobile games.

Since the device features an octa-core processor, you can run any games available on the Android market at incredibly fast speeds. The device also features an excellent camera and photo editing technology.

If you own other Samsung products, then you also get a wide range of additional benefits in terms of compatibility. One of these benefits is the Quick Connect feature, which allows you to instantly share videos, photos, and other media to your desktop computer or television.

If you want an app that also put children’s education at the forefront of its design, then the Samsung Tablet 10.1 will appeal to you. The tablet features a wide range of educational content from well-known makers like DreamWorks and Sesame Street.

It also features strict parental controls, so you control what they access and how much time they spend on the device. However, you will need to pay for the Samsung Kids subscription to access this content, which comes in the form of a monthly subscription.

Samsung Tablet 10.1 Specs

Now that we know a little bit about some of the general features included with the Samsung Tablet 10.1 let us look at some more specific details. The Samsung Tablet 10.1 currently only comes available in one color: black. The product supports both wifi and Bluetooth capabilities.

It features an Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system and an Exynos 7870, Octa-Core processor type with a processing speed of 1.6 GHz. In terms of size dimensions, the product weighs one point sixteen pounds and measures ten inches by six point eleven inches by .32 inches.

There are two cameras on the Samsung Tablet 10.1 — a front facing one and a rear-facing one. The front camera comes with a two MP resolution, and the rear one features 8.0MP AF with flash.

The rear camera also features a four times zoom and 1080p recording capabilities with thirty frames per second. In terms of battery, the product features a Li-ion model with a speed of 7,300mAh.

This battery allows for one hundred and eighty-seven hours of music playing capabilities, thirteen hours of video play time, and thirteen hours of internet usage. The Samsung Tablet 10.1 is Energy Star certified. The tablet comes with an internal memory capacity of two GB RAM and sixteen GB ROM.

It can support up to two hundred and fifty-six-gigabyte microcard, but you will need to purchase it separately. Finally, in terms of display, the Samsung Tablet 10.1 features an overall resolution of 1920 x 1200.

Samsung Tablet 10.1 Pricing

At retail value, the Samsung Tablet 10.1 currently lists at two hundred and eighty dollars if you purchase it on the Samsung website or at any in-person retail stores like Best Buy.

You can also purchase the item with a bundle if you want to save some money instead of buying the add-ons separately. If you're going to buy the Samsung Tablet 10.1 with an S pen for writing and drawing, you may get a discount.

If you want to buy the product with a sixty-four gigabit micro SD card, then it will cost two hundred and nine dollars. You can also subscribe to Samsung Kids if you want access to kid-specific content. This feature requires around eight dollars per month.

How the Samsung Tablet 10.1 Compares with Other Brands

In this section, we compare the Samsung Tablet 10.1 with two other popular tablet models on the market right now. Specifically, we compare it with the Apple iPad (Wi-Fi, 32GB) and the Fire HD 8 Tablet (8" HD Display, 16 GB).

We chose these two products because they represent the main competition and thus help paint a good picture of Samsung’s strengths and weaknesses. They also provide some alternative buying options if you decide that the Samsung Tablet 10.1 is not for you.

1) Apple iPad (Wi-Fi, 32GB)

The Apple iPad prides itself as being the first official tablet device, and there is still a lot to like about the product. The newest version of the product comes with a 9.7-inch retina display. Unfortunately, a lot of the price tag associated with the device goes toward the name and logo.

Despite costing two hundred and fifty dollars, the product comes with the same camera as the Samsung Tablet 10.1 and less battery life when using apps. However, the fingerprint sensor does offer an excellent level of added security, and many people believe that Apple offers a more usable product than Android.

We also like the broader selection of apps available in the Apple store. So, if you think these features warrant a slightly more expensive product, then you should go with the iPad.

2) Fire HD 8 Tablet (8" HD Display, 16 GB)

If you are on a budget while shopping for your tablet device, then we highly recommend Fire HD 8 Tablet. The method is a bit more limited in its features than the iPad or the Samsung Tablet 10.1, but what it lacks in size and function, it makes up for in value and customization.

The Fire HD 8 Tablet costs eighty dollars and comes with a choice of four different colors. The screen is small — roughly eight inches — but the 1.3 GHz quad-core processor is dependable, and the battery life lasts as long as the iPad.

The best thing about the Fire HD 8 Tablet is its compatibility with the Amazon store. Since the product comes from Amazon, it features access to unique games, books, and movies that you would not be able to access with the other two devices.

The device can also hook up with your at home Alexa system so you can give it voice commands. Altogether, the Fire HD 8 Tablet packs a hefty punch for a pretty small price.

Samsung Tablet 10.1 Pros and Cons

In this section we cover some of the things we like about the Samsung Tablet 10.1 and some things we think could use improvement. We include both of our own opinions based on personal experience, but also user review so we can get a more objective view of the product.

Pros

The thing we love the most about the Samsung Tablet 10.1 is the screen — both its size and quality. Movies are crystal clear, and most game graphics look even more enhanced than they would on android phone or older tablet.

The size of the screen is also more substantial than both the iPad and the Amazon Fire Tablet.

It is large enough to make a noticeable difference when watching your favorite shows while still small enough to remain transportable. The high quality 8.0MP AF is another good selling point for the Samsung Tablet 10.1.

If you pride yourself in photography, then this tablet is the next best thing you can get to a digital camera. The photo sharing feature also adds a layer of convenience after you finish taking the pictures. The speakers that come with the Samsung Tablet 10.1 also work quite nicely.

We find when at full volume the speakers can penetrate the noisiness of a crowded area. If you invest in the pen feature, then the tablet also becomes a fantastic art tool. If you have the right amount of skill and equipment, then you can even use it for a professional or educational graphic design setting.

  • A great screen in terms of size and graphics
  • Excellent camera and photo/video features
  • Powerful speakers
  • Incredible art features if you own pen

Cons

There are some cons associated with the Samsung Tablet 10.1, but we do not think any of them are deal breakers. The biggest thing we dislike is that the base model comes with minimal memory. You can quickly fix this issue by purchasing a memory card, but it is still an inconvenience.

Also, while the speakers are compelling, the company limits them to one side. This feature lacks surround sound quality, and some people might not be able to hear if you watch a movie together. Also, unlike the Apple iPad, this device does not feature a fingerprint scanner or the sheer amount of apps available.

The apps that do work on the device are great, but there is a severe lack of quantity when compared with the Apple store. Also, the lack of a fingerprint scanner means you need a regular password for security. This feature is not too big of an issue, but it does make it inconvenient when you log in to the device.

  • The base model features limited memory
  • No fingerprint scanner
  • Speakers only fall on one side
  • Not as many tablet apps as competitors

Samsung Tablet 10.1 Review Conclusion

If you plan on using your tablet exclusively for gaming, movie watching, picture taking, and artwork, then we think you will love the Samsung Tablet 10.1. The tablet makes consuming entertainment on the go much more comfortable and enjoyable.

If you travel in airports a lot, then the device can turn a miserable flight delay into an enjoyable experience. Considering the processor, camera, and operating systems that come with the tablet, we think the price more than justifies what you get.

The main flaw with the Samsung Tablet 10.1 is the fact that it does not come with much built-in memory. However, you can quickly solve this flaw by purchasing an inexpensive SD memory card.

Also, if you do not mind investing in the pen that comes with the tablet, then you can quickly turn the tablet into a digital canvas with unlimited possibilities. As such, it works great as a fit for graphic design students or any digital artists. As such, we give the Samsung Tablet 10.1 a final rating of four stars out of five stars.

We hope this Samsung Tablet 10.1 review helped you decide whether or not the product is a good fit for your needs. As we said, we think anyone who wants a tablet specifically for entertainment or art purposes will not be disappointed. Good luck during the rest of your shopping process!

Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 Pro - QHD 10.1" Android Tablet Computer (Intel Atom...

Many tablet makers have resigned to the fact that isn’t going to be difficult to do better than the iPad. Instead, Lenovo has decided to cook up something much different with the Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 Pro.

With a flip stand that makes it like nothing else on the market, but it also manages to fit in a projector too. We know what you’re thinking – it is a little unorthodox.

But if you are up for something a bit unusual, the Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 Pro really makes a lot of sense. The projector is even more useful than you might expect, and at below $400, it's a surprisingly good deal too. Take a further look below, and hopefully, our Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 Pro review will help you to make your mind up!

The Stand Up Factor

First we have to take a look at the layout. This tablet comes with an in-built stand, allowing you to prop it in many different positions – it’s a bit like the Microsoft Surface Pro.

The rack is metal and opens up smoothly instead of only sitting in two or three pre-set spots like the bigger 8in Yoga Tab 3. This allows the Tab 3 to hold itself up (perhaps on your desk at work) but a handy hole in the flip-out section also allows you to hang the pill on the wall. This means you can put it pretty much wherever you like!

As great as this is, when putting the Tab down it's easy to knock it over due to its weighted build when pressing on the screen. The only logical solution for this would be to make the tab heavier – not an ideal solution.

It already weighs 665g, and combined with all the chunkiness of the standing area, it immediately feels a good deal less portable than something like the iPad. However (and this is the big surprise of this Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 Pro) I think the tab would be way better suited to going on vacation.

Are The Projections on the Tab 3 Up to Scratch?

Why? Two reasons. To begin with, the battery is enormous. The Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 Pro includes a 10400mAh unit, larger than just about any other tablet's battery.

Battery life is not quite as fantastic as Lenovo's claim. It says you will Get up to 18 hours; I got 11 when enjoying a locally saved video.

Or you'll get about four hours when using the projector. While that may not sound very long, bear in mind that little standalone pico projectors (such as the Aiptek PocketCinema) only lasts ninety minutes to two hours.

And now we come to just that - the projector. Initially, this may seem like a completely ridiculous feature to have.

Its weak 50-lumen power is miniscule, as even entry-level projectors are capable of 3000-lumen, plus the resolution employs a fraction of the number of pixels onscreen.

Realistically, it ought to be outright dreadful. In rooms with any light, if definitely is. But, there is a certain joy to beaming my favorite film approximately 80in, across one whole wall of my couch. Even though the brightness is pathetic, in a dark room, the image is still relatively good.

The way it works is ingenious too. You turn the projector on by simply long-pressing a button at the end of the hinge.

It then mirrors whatever's onscreen, and utilizes the tablet's accelerometer to judge the angle and also adjusts the image orientation to make it seem correct.

This is a process known as keystone correction and involves distorting the image, cutting into it and therefore further reducing the number of pixels you're seeing. Get it straight in the event that you can.

Lenovo's claim for its Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 Pro projector is that it can stretch around 70in. It may do so, but you also need to consider the way projectors work. The bigger the image receives, the more stretched out it gets.

You want a seriously dark area in order to generate a 70-80in film that is fun to watch.

It's also not much ideal for gaming. Turning on the projector appears to cause a severe performance hit, which makes the display less responsive and produces plenty of lag in 2D games. It’s best to just stream your favorite shows.

In spite of this, I was taken aback at how much the LionYoga Tab 3 Pro projector wasn’t an issue. There is a definite appeal to seeing TV projected on your ceiling as you take it all in, even though it’s not the best quality.

There are definite merits to the Yoga Tab’s projector too, as standalone pico projector can set you back up to $200 on its own.

Sharper Screens on the Lenovo Yoga Tab 3

Back down to the world of good old-fashioned tablets, we have the Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 Pro's QHD screen. It measures 10.1in 2560 x 1600 screen, and so is much more 'widescreen' than an iPad – super fashionable.

But the larger screen isn’t just to fit in with the crown. In fact, the larger screen fits this model well. Plus there is an 8in non-Pro variant in case you're desperate for a smaller version (it has a much worse display and no projector).

The screen quality is similar to any high-end LCD. The sharp colors are vibrant, but not too sharp on the eyes, and the angles you can view it from are great.

Set it up in front of you during a flight and it is a great way to make any flight more bearable. Even more reasons to take it abroad.

The software isn't overly invasive either. There's a custom Lenovo UI, which is easy to use, and feels like Android Lollipop bar the different-looking software menu.

Lenovo has packed-in a couple of added apps too, all of which are too dull to discuss.

It seems more-or-less like Lenovo has allowed Android to stay the same, even If there is a custom UI here.

The Power Inside the Tab 3

The Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 Pro features plenty of power too. Its powered by an Intel Atom chip, much like a good deal of the older Lenovo tablet computers, or the 1.4GHz Intel. Even though it’s just a quad-core CPU compared to the standard eight cores nowadays, it still has ample power.

In Snapdragon terms, this means that the Tab’s operating system sits somewhere between the mid-century Snapdragon 617 and the top-end Snapdragon 810.

The performance isn’t perfect, however. As with Several other rather high-power Intel devices that have come before it, its ability to run games isn’t quite on-par with the numbers you see in benchmarks.

Frame speeds in frantic games are noticeably less than 100 percent smooth when those visual effects have been amped up. Even though it performs only a little less than ideal, hard-core gamers will pick it up.

I also stumbled upon a few crashes throughout play also. Bear in mind the less-than-ideal performance when the using the projector as well and you have a tablet that isn't quite as good as you may have thought for gaming.

Honestly, this is mot likely down to a combination of various things. To begin with, Android developers aren't likely to optimize to higher chipsets as they aren’t used as much, and the Tab 3 also has an awful lot of pixels to push, way over a 1080p tablet computer.

The Yoga Tab 3 Sensation

In most scenarios, a slightly smaller, less eclectic tablet computer would be preferable for gaming on the go. The hinge does provide you with something to hold onto if the Tab 3 is held portrait, but it can feel awkward in landscape.

The bottom piece of the Tab 3 is plastic, as well as the hinge, but the remaining portion of the back is made from cushioned fake leather (possibly in an attempt to look upmarket).

While it doesn’t feel like a particularly high-end tablet, it's not as though anyone's likely to attempt to purchase a Yoga Tab 3 Pro believing they are buying the most state-of-the-art tablet in the world (or assume that simply from this Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 Pro review).

Snap Away with the Tab 3

The camera specifications are promising, particularly for a tablet computer. There's a 13-megapixel sensor on the trunk and also a 5-megapixel one up front.

It’s definitely a shame Lenovo couldn’t put their resources together and create a single rotary camera like the one on Lenovo’s 8-inch Tab 3, but it's probably because this model is built from the bod of the previous Yoga Tab 2.

Whilst the specifications hold up, the performance doesn’t bode quite as well. There's a fair deal of lag if you use the back camera, which makes it feel like you have a small wait between pressing the button and the Tab 3 actually taking a picture.

However, picture quality doesn’t quite match what you would on a standard 13-megapixel phone.

It honestly seems like the Tab 3 Pro has a high-res detector to make it appear to be a step up on the Yoga Tab 2 Pro, rather than an indicator of a real concerted effort to allow it to crank out fantastic shots.

Nonetheless, there are tablets with considerably worse cameras out there. They'll do the job for casual shots, and there are definitely tablets that don’t hold up as well as the Tab 3 does in this Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 Pro review.

This is a device build for enjoying media more than anything else. Aside from the 32GB storage (which can also be topped up using a micro SD card), the Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 Pro has pretty loud & punchy speakers upfront.

They'll even do the task of providing sound for your projector if you don't have a Bluetooth speaker. The noise does distort somewhat at maximum volume, though. Keep it to 80 percent or lower and you've got an unusually punchy sound.

The Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 Pro isn’t much like your regular tablet. It's fairly heavy, rather chunky and includes a projector build into the body of the machine.

As you might have guessed, it wouldn’t be such a good idea throw your TV out and replace it with this tablet. The projector is plenty of fun to play with but is far from the best if you’re not watching movies in a dark room.

It is most definitely a media powerhouse though, with its stand and decent battery life, you can place it as a tablet in the big leagues.

If you are out there for a large family tablet computer, the Nabi Big Tab definitely is up to the task, with a selection of a 20-in or 24-in touchscreen, backed by a child-friendly choice of entertaining and educational games and programs.

Nabi Big Tab Design

At 24 inches, the Big Tab looks like an all-in-one desktop computer.

There is a 24.5-in removable metal framework secured round the Edge of the pill, which sticks out a little so you can utilize it as a carrying handle.

Additionally, it doubles up as a kickstand that you are able to prop up the tablet for a variety of different viewing angles. The framework is also detachable through two release tabs.

The 1,920 x 1,080 is wonderful. It is a good screen, with colors that are bright and quite crisp, and good-looking pictures despite its reduced pixel density. The Big Tab runs onto a quad-core Tegra 4 chip, and is great for this kind of device.

Nabi Big Tab Performance

The tablet includes 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of onboard storage, which cannot be enlarged due to the Big Tab lacking an SD card slot. Like the nabi Dreamtab, the BigTab gets the Blue Morpho software streamed on top of Android’s 4.4 Kitkat, allowing it to be more intuitive for little ones to use.

The tablet's 1,650 mAh built-in battery just provides a 30-minute backup, which means you will mainly be using this with the power adapter plugged in.

The Nabi’s speakers are great for games, although not perfect for watching films. The Nabi’s  front facing camera isn’t bad at capturing pictures but is hindered by low light.

Nabi Big Tab Apps and Games

nabi big tab apps and games

What is unique about the Big Tab is the collaborative experience it provides. The huge display is really a joy when playing multiplayer matches with others. You may even have the Big Tab as a networking center, since it allows you to download videos and TV shows through Google Play.

You'll find games such as Air Hockey, Great White, and Ladders in the game area, and there are a number of games that are educational too.

The tablet does not discriminate on purely informative material either. The Wings learning program provides thousands of classes out of Pre-K through 6th grade level in mathematics, writing and reading.

Nabi Big Tab Parental Controls

The BigTab has a nabi mode for kids to use along with a Password-protected Mommy mode. It delivers the exact same well-designed parental controls that we have seen on the DreamTab.

You can limit just how much time children spend on particular programs with the time controllers, causing the tablet to lock down after the limit is attained.

There is also the choice of preparing time rewards that allow children earn more time on amusing programs for the time they have spent on desired/educational apps.

Fuhu has also tried to offer some incentive for the little ones to pull Their weight around the home, by means of a job list that parents can set up.

Nabi Big Tab Verdict

The Big Tab is a great tablet that not only provides Educational benefits, but also provides outstanding collaborative capabilities.

Even though it's possible to discover multi-player games onto any tablet computer, gameplay on this monumental screen beats anything you may experience packed around a 10-inch iPad screen.

While it is not ideal, with its brief battery Life, very low pixel density and the absence of an SD slot, the Big Tab is still a fantastic device for big families and includes plenty of exceptional and content parental controls.

Prices will be on the higher side of things. However, considering that you are getting the combination of an Android tablet computer and multimedia hub that may double as a complete HD screen, we think that it's well worth a look, and the Nabi Big Tab does consistently well in Nabi tablet reviews.

What Exactly is a Tablet?

In short, a tablet computer is a type of portable personal computer. While the specifics on tablets can range widely, there are some key features that all tablets have in common.

These include an LCD touchscreen, rechargeable batteries, and an operating system similar to systems used to run mobile phones.

In many ways, the tablet is functionally similar to a smartphone. The major differences between a smartphone and a tablet is that the tablets are larger in size, and may not have the ability to have access to a cellular network. Many tablets can be connected 3G or 4G, however, which closes the gap difference on many models.

Today every major company that creates consumer electronics is producing tablets in one form of another. The benefits of having a portable multimedia device over a traditional desktop computer usually outweigh a consumer’s hesitation on owning multiple devices.

There are, of course, 2 in 1 computer options, which merge the concept of a laptop with a tablet.

The game changer in the computer industry was Apple’s introduction of the iPad.

Due to the success of the iPad, tablets have become one of the fastest growing segments of consumer electronics. Ever since the iPad became available to consumers, the standards and expectations for the function and uses of a consumer electronics have raised considerably.

Tablets, specifically, have higher and higher standards to meet every year, with lower prices expected.

As the market has become saturated with so many quality and junk tablet options, it can be hard to know where to begin looking, or what kind of device would best meet your needs.

To help you in your search for the right tablet, we’re going to look at the RCA Viking Pro 10.1 2in1 Tablet 32 GB Quad Core reviews across the web. We’ll also offer some tips on choosing the right tablet for you, whether it’s the RCA Viking or another device.

Which Tablet is Right for You?

What are your exact needs in your tablet? Will you be watching movies or streaming YouTube videos all day? Or will you just be using your tablet to scour the web for cute outfits?

Will you be using the tablet to help run your small business? Will you be using the tablet to check email? Are you interested in replacing your laptop all together?

Do you need to have an easy-to-stow tablet that will fit easily in your purse or backpack? Do you need a keyboard for your tablet?

Thinking through all of the uses you expect to need your tablet for can help you determine a number of other factors that will steer you towards the right tablet. The more specific you can be about your needs, the more easily you’ll understand the right choice.

2. The Size of the Tablet

If you’re looking for a tablet to toss in your purse on the run, you’ll want a smaller model than the nearly full-size tablet options that function like full-on computers.

If, however, you’re more interested in word processing options, you should definitely consider a tablet with a larger screen that’s compatible with a keyboard large enough to comfortably type on.

3. Operating System

What kind of operating system do you need on your tablet?

There are three main operating system to keep in mind; Android, iOS and Windows.

Android/Google

Android is developed by Google and has all the advantages for a product created by such a robust company. Advantages of this type include support for multiple logins.

This feature makes the Google run devices that are great for sharing with your whole family. And thanks to Google Play, any app you buy for your Android phone can be downloaded for free on your tablet.

iOS/Apple

The iOS is Apple’s operating system. If you enjoy Apple devices, then you know what to expect with these more consumer-friendly interfaces.

Major plus sides are a user interface that’s simple and easily used by anyone newer to computers and electronic devices. If you’re more familiar with Windows or Android devices, you’ll have a minor transition period of learning the system.

Another advantage to the iOS is that the Apple app store is ahead of the competition for viewing media and playing games.

Windows/Microsoft

Windows tablets have software created by Microsoft. If you are planning to use your tablet for a lot of traditional computer work typically done on a laptop, then this may be your best bet.

The main reason for this? Windows tablets have Microsoft Office, which means you have traditional word processing as well as classic spreadsheets programs.

4. Tablet Features

What features are most important to you?

When looking at the various features that are offered in tablets, it’s important to think about the advantages of what is offered:

  • Wi-Fi vs 3G/4G access
  • Battery life
  • Processing speed
  • The type and quality of camera
  • Amount of available storage
  • Any additional storage capacity that can be added

There are countless accessories available with various tablets, as well, and should be taken into consideration as you shop.

5. Comparison

How does the front-runner tablet compare with others?

Before deciding on the make and model of your new tablet, you should go to a local store and check out various tablets in person. We’d recommend going to a few different stores, and then making your purchase after you’ve spent a little time in consideration.

Compare the features in person. Consider the weight and feel of each tablet in your hands. What’s most comfortable? Is the screen big enough? How does the keyboard feel?

You can also check out the brightness settings, screen resolution, included accessories, and included apps. Test out the virtual keyboard.

You can also take advantage of sales personnel and ask any questions that you haven’t found the answers to during your online searches.

6. Your Budget

What is your budget? Is there any wiggle room in case you find a better tablet for a little higher cost? Do you have anything for accessories, or does your figure include everything? Will you be getting a 3G or 4G plan?

Your budget is one of the biggest deciding factors for choosing the right tablet. You’ll need to set a basic budget to start and develop it from your minimum up to be capable of including accessories, data plans, or software and apps you’ll need to meet all of your computing needs.

Now that you’ve got a solid idea of how to find the right tablet, let’s take a look at the RCA Viking Pro 10.1” 2-in-1 Tablet.

building-o

A RCA Viking Pro 10.1 2in1 Tablet 32 GB Quad Core Review

The RCA Viking Pro 10.1” 2-in-1 Tablet 21 GB quad core review sites say the tablet features a 10.1” touchscreen. It has the Google Android 5.0 Lollipop OS, and has a 1.3ghz Quad-Core processor, with 32GB of memory.

The RCA Viking Pro has webcams and is both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth enabled. The product description on New Egg promises that this device has a powerful enough processor to be able to multitask both for fun and for business.

What is a 2 in 1 Tablet?

A 2-in-1 tablet seeks to combine the flexibility of a P.C. with the portable conveniences of a tablet device. In the instance of the RCA Viking Pro, the 2 in 1 function means it’s got a detachable keyboard so that the computer becomes a tablet.

The RCA Viking Pro tablet can be docked to the keyboard in a variety of positions for suiting your task at hand. While the keyboard comes with the RCA Viking Pro, many tablets do not come with keyboards.

What Do You Real Users Say in Their RCA Viking Pro 10.1 2in1 Tablet 32 GB Quad Core Reviews?

The Positive RCA Viking Pro 10.1 2in1 Tablet 32 GB Quad Core Review

Reviewers on eBay give glowing reviews for the RCA Viking Pro, with overall ratings of 4.74 out of 5 stars. The reviews point out a number of positive qualities of the Viking Pro, including a long battery life, and a good quality screen.

Another positive quality they praise is the clear, bright screen, and the easy-to-use touch screen. Many people also mention that the screen size on the Viking Pro is great for watching movies.

Some reviewers specifically mentioned that there were no issues connecting online, and downloading apps using Google Play was easy on the Viking Pro.

Commenters state that they feel the RCA Viking Pro is a great deal for the price.

Furthermore, reviewers say that the Viking Pro is durable enough to purchase for a child. It can survive being dropped.

The great design for separating the tablet from the keyboard is also praised by users. People say that the two separate easily without fear of breaking the device in the process.

Finally, users state that the Viking Pro is lightweight and easy to handle.

The Negative Review RCA Viking Pro 10.1 2in1 Tablet 32 GB Quad Core Review

While there were many positive qualities mentioned in the reviews, some people did have negatives to share. Many of these reviews seemed to indicate individual scenarios, rather than manufacturing flaws. These insights are still valuable to help others avoid the same issues.

Users on Amazon gave negative mentions that shortly after purchasing the Viking Pro charging ports both stopped working. Other said soon after purchase, the keyboards broke.

To save on manufacturing costs, RCA chose to build the case from cheap plastic. If you do purchase an RCA Viking Pro, be sure to purchase a case, especially if your kids may handle the device.

Some commenters said that the cheap plastic case feels uncomfortable, and that other brands feel smoother.

Some users stated that the keyboard is uncomfortable, and that the touchpad mouse isn’t very responsive to touch.

Additionally, the cameras on both back and front side are low quality. The cameras barely work for Skype and are horrible at taking photographs. This is not that unusual for a built-in webcam for a standard laptop, but typically, a better quality camera can be expected on a tablet.

Others mentioned that the onboard speakers are low quality. They stated that it’s difficult to hear anything from the computer/tablet, and that you need to use headphones.

Other complaints included:

  • 1
The 2 in 1 doesn’t include a manual on how to utilize the tablet’s features, or how to create documents and charts. These are advertised as features for the device, so the lack of assistance is disappointing at best.
  • 2
When compared to other tablets the RCA brand has screens that are easily cracked and scratched up.
  • 3
Some said that they had difficulty using the android operating system.
  • 4
One person complained that within two months the touchscreen became totally unresponsive.
  • 5
Certain versions come with batteries that don’t last very long and must be replaced.
  • 6
The power button for the device is located in a non-intuitive location.
  • 7
When one person had difficulty connecting this tablet to a Windows PC, support said that this particular Android device isn’t made to be compatible with any version of Windows.

What is Our RCA Viking Pro 10.1 2in1 Tablet 32 GB Quad Core Review?

Tablet

There are a lot of positives about the RCA Viking Pro, though some reviews were mixed on these features. Some said it’s highly durable, while others complained that they break easily.

We tend to believe it’s likely to be a bit shoddy. The price indicates a low-quality item, though, so we shouldn’t expect a premium item.

If you really need a budget-friendly tablet, and you don’t have kids, the RCA Viking Pro is an option. However, we’d only recommend for a fill-in or low-budget option, and not as your standard computing device.

RCA Tablet Reviews: Galileo Pro, Mercury, Cambio, and Voyager Pro

1. RCA Galileo Pro (RCA tablet reviews)

rca tablet reviews

Pros

  • tablet and laptop in 1
  • usb slot for mouse and usb dongle is available
  • quality and durable

Cons

  • A bit slow but it fits the price!

There are many different reasons people choose to buy tablets. Sometimes they work as accessories to carry around the house, some are great for staying connected on the go, and some can even work to replace laptops. The first of our RCA tablet reviews on our list, the Galileo Pro 10, falls into the latter category.

This device is a perfect way to get a laptop-like feel without shelling out a premium price. In fact, this is one of the most affordable tablets on the market. Technology can be expensive, but the Galileo Pro ensures that you get a great product without digging too deep into your wallet.

The price point is one of the best parts of the Galileo, but its features are what push it over the top. Many tablets often come just as tablets. That then forces you to buy add-ons or extra peripherals to get the full package. That is not the case here.

Switching Between Tablet and Laptop Mode

This model comes with a detachable keyboard, which is an excellent addition to make sure you can use it in multiple ways. The keyboard means you can switch between using it as a tablet or a laptop, which gives you a lot of versatility that traditional tablets do not have.

The keyboard is what makes a 2-in-1 tablet a 2-in-1. Being able to easily move from stand-alone mode to a range of different positions is a great feature and one that takes this from your standard device to a true all-star. You never want technology to lock you into a single mode or use. You want something with a bit a wiggle room. The keyboard allows that to happen.

The Features

Beyond the great keyboard, the Galileo Pro, despite its low price, comes with all of the premium specs and features you would expect in any tablet. It has an 11.5-inch display that helps enhance your experience no matter if you're using it for work or leisure.

This model is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor and it is equipped with 32BG of onboard storage. If you find yourself needing a bit more memory, you can further raise that bar with a microSD card to get 128GB. That memory and power help you quickly navigate around the device and easily shift between apps and tasks.

Great Cameras and WPS Office

Another reason to use the Galileo Pro is its rear 2MP camera and front 1MP camera. With stunning quality and high-resolution, you can always make sure your best and most exciting moments are captured.

However, don’t just think this is only for leisure. The device also has the WPS Office app, which allows you to create documents and spreadsheets to keep up with or work on any business you might have.

2. RCA 7'' Mercury Tablet (RCA tablet reviews)

rca mercury tablet in rca tablet reviews

Pros

  • affordable price
  • portable and easy to carry
  • dual camera

Cons

  • camera is a bit blurry

Our second tablet is the RCA 7'' Mercury Touchscreen. Unlike the above option, this one strays from the regular path through its tight, compact package. As with the Galileo, the Mercury manages to be incredibly affordable without sacrificing any features or capabilities.

This Android tablet is smaller than other options, but its 7-inch screen still gives you an incredible picture without forcing you to carry or lug around any larger equipment. In fact, this is one of the best tablets to own for people who travel quite a bit. Just throw it in your bag and go.

App Options and Google Play

Some people may be put off by a smaller sized tablet, but the RCA Mercury can easily go punch-for-punch with any other model on the market. The device comes with a dual-core process, which works perfectly to handle a range of apps, programs, and games.

In addition, you also get the Google Play Store, which gives access to all of your favorite apps and programs. There are more than 1 million applications on the store, and all of them will be at your fingertips. No matter what you use your Mercury for, there will be something or you.

A Plethora of Features in a Compact Package

Some smaller tablets give up power or storage, but that is not the case with the RCA Mercury 7'' tablet. It comes with 8 GB of flash storage, which helps you store pictures, apps, and any other multi-media you use. Extra storage space is one of the most important aspects for a tablet to have, and the Mercury hits those marks with flying colors.

As expected, this model is also equipped with dual cameras that help make sure you can take both videos and photos with ease. The front-facing camera is great for selfies and allows you to video conference with friends and family. In contrast, the 2.0-megapixel rear-facing camera is a great way to take high-definition screenshots of the more important moments in your life.

All of the above features build into one of the best companion tablets on the market. Power typically does not come in such a small package, but here you have everything you could ever want in the palm of your hand.

3. 2018 RCA Cambio 2-in-1 10.1" (RCA tablet reviews)

rca tablet reviews of 2018 RCA Cambio 2-in-1

Pros

  • 2 in 1 touchscreen laptop and tablet
  • upgradable upto 128GB with a microSD card
  • good price for a 2 in 1 tablet laptop

Cons

  • both front and back camera is low quality

The next device on this list is the 2018 RCA Cambio, which is a wonderful 2-in-1 laptop-tablet that helps you get the most from your device.

This Windows tablet is fully-touchscreen, and it is all about the features. Sometimes, you want something that comes with more than the basics, and that is where this model shines. This tablet comes outfitted with all of the top-of-the-line enhancements you could ever want, and then piles on more features you didn't even know were necessary.

Further Beneficial Features

The Cambio's touchscreen is equipped with a 1280 x 800 display that gives you wide viewing angles and enables you to work or watch in the high resolution.

Continuing with that excellent package, the Cambio is powered by an Intel Atom Z8350 Quad-Core Processor. You also get 2GB of system memory in addition to 32GB flash memory. There is also an option to upgrade to 128GB with a microSD card. That extra space is particularly important with this model because of how many uses it has.

The Cambio comes with a detachable keyboard to allow you to use it in various ways for various situations. There is also Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 capabilities to constantly keep you connected. The Bluetooth helps you pair with any nearby compatible devices to further streamline your world.

A Simple-Yet-Complex Device

There are several key traits you want your tablet to have, and one of the most important is being able to easily navigate around the various screens and programs without becoming lost or getting confused. Modern technology is great, but it can also be a hassle if you don't know all of the features.

The Cambio seeks to fix that issue with one of the easiest to use interfaces on the market. Everything about this tablet is clean. That ensures that anyone can pick it up and instantly understand how it works. This is particularly useful for those who want to take full advantage of all of its various functions.

Wonderful Windows Capability

As mentioned, one of the things that help the Cambio stand out is the fact that it is a Windows tablet. That means you get a ton of extra upgrades other tablets lack.

First, the Cambio comes with Windows 10 and the classic Windows 10 home screen to further enhance the ease of use. However, what really sets this apart is the fact that you also get a range of wonderful Windows apps built directly into the device.

Using the extra memory, the Cambio has a range of Microsoft Office Mobile Apps, including Word Mobile, PowerPoint Mobile, Excel Mobile, and OneNote. For that reason, it is a perfect option when it comes to both business and leisure. Every official task you could ever want, including documents and slideshows, are available.

It is easy to think of tablets as only leisure items, but they have great use for work as well. That means the Cambio is perfect for multiple uses both while at work or relaxing at home.

4. Voyager Pro (RCA tablet reviews)

rca tablet reviews of voyager pro tablet

Pros

  • affordable and quality
  • major applications runs smoothly
  • fast processor for the price

Cons

  • not recommended for high-end gaming

Our final device on this list of RCA tablet reviews is the Voyager Pro. This model has many similarities to the above Mercury 7''. It is the same size, comes the same dependability, and sells at a similarly affordable price. Even so, there are a few notable differences that help it stand out from the crowd. Those are worth exploring.

A Tablet with Something for Everyone

Right off the bat, the Voyager Pro excels because it operates on the newest Android system. That upgrade is a great way to make use of everything the Google Play store has to offer and helps the device run much more smoothly than some other brands on the market.

The Google certified tablet is equipped with all of the standard features you expect from RCA models and has a little bit more. This device is packed with a 1.3hz Quad Core complete with 1GB RAM and gives you 16GB of storage to help run all of your favorite games, movies, and TV shows. That space also is expanded if you so desire.

Small but Powerful

The 4-core processor has a lot of power, and the Voyager helps you put it to good use. While the screen is small, it is incredibly sharp and well-defined. The colors pop off the 1024 x 600 HD Touchscreen, making sure every single scene is as beautiful as it would be on a bigger device.

Like the Cambio, the Voyager Pro is also fully equipped with Bluetooth compatibility. This allows you to connect your devices and helps you seamlessly integrate it right into your other electronics. We live in a complex world. There is no reason to isolate one device when everything can work together.

Tablet to Laptop Versatility

Sometimes you want a tablet, and sometimes you want a small, compact laptop. The Voyager Pro's detachable keyboard helps you get the best of both worlds without sacrificing features from either one. This upgrade is necessary for anyone who wants to add a little variety to their life.

You can take the Voyager to read in bed or while you recline on the sofa. However, you can also snap onto the keyboard and compose emails, surf the internet, or update social media. The strong processor gives you the power you need to do it all.

This is a fantastic 2-in-1 device and one that is welcome for anyone who wants a tablet that is easy to carry around. All of the above features are great, especially when they are complemented by the amazing front camera and 6-hour battery life. The complete package at a great price.

  Lenovo Tab 2 A10: Pros & Cons

Pros

  • slim and portable
  • long-battery life
  • quality and durable

Cons

  • volume is a bit low

A Great Package with an Excellent Look (Lenovo tab 2 a10 review)

lenovo tab 2 a10 product image

The first stand-out part of the Lenovo TAB 2 A10 review is its stellar design. The model has an elegant blue polycarbonate shell, which gives it a sleek, modern look. Technology should always work first and foremost, but it helps when it looks good as well. The outer layer, combined with Lenovo's slick, silver logo on the back on the case, creates an incredibly refined and stunning package.

In addition to the back, the Lenovo logo sits in the bezel on the longer side of the tab 2. The excellent 8-megapixel camera (which will be discussed in further detail later on) slightly protrudes out in a comfortable and natural way, while the headphone jack lies next to the bezel and the 5-MP front camera.

You also get a USB 2.0 micro port tucked on the left edge next to the power switches, which are subtly placed. The microSD port is also hidden beneath a flap on the right side of the shell. This makes it easy to plug in and plug out without exposing any ugly tabs or openings.

Compact is the name of the game with the Tab 2, and all of the features packed into the compact device fit in the shell in an organic way. There is nothing worse than a clunky tablet. The Tab 2 makes sure everything comes together nicely. And you get it all in a 1.1-pound package that makes it great to carry around or use on the go.

Everything in Crisp, Stunning Clarity

picture clarity of lenovo tab 2 a10

The next part of this Lenovo Tab 2 A10 review is the display. This is one of the most important sections of any modern device because, regardless of what you use it for, you want everything to pop off the screen. The Tab 2 makes sure you view everything, from your emails to movies to social media, with incredible quality.

The 10-inch, 1920 x 1200 IPS display ensures that whatever you watch will always be sharp and in full, bright color. Everything that comes onto the screen is vibrant and in full detail. This makes the device a great option for both Netflix bingers as well as avid sports fans. Even people who simply use the Tab 2 for business or work will be impressed with the upgraded pallet and bright tones.

The device also has excellent brightness and can reproduce color better than other popular tech options within its same space. This may not be at the forefront of its abilities, but it is a welcome addition that adds an extra layer to the viewing process.

Stellar Audio for Show and Music Lovers Alike

lenovo tab 2 a10 audio

Of course, no matter who you are or why you want a tablet, the sound is always going to be important. Good quality speakers are vital for any modern media device. Anyone who enjoys movies and TV wants their favorites to come through crisp and clear, but music lovers also seek the best quality possible. This is the third part of the Lenovo tab 2 a10 review.

In the Lenovo Tab A10, all sounds come through the speakers with crisp quality and great balance. Many people may expect more affordable tablets to scrimp on the sound, but that is simply not the case here.

The reason this device is able to deliver amazing audio performance is the combination of the upgraded speakers and Dolby Atmos soundbar. That extra feature is mainly there to increase movie audio (which it does in a big way) but it also enhances all general sound coming from the device without degrading any audio.

Blending Software and Apps

The Tab 2 is an Android tablet, which means you get all of the features you would expect from any Android device. The model is equipped with the newest Android technology, which should serve most people's needs. It can also be upgraded as newer and more efficient systems come out.

Everything on the Tab 2 is about recreating the strong and dependable Android experience. To do that, Lenovo has removed any app bloat or unnecessary features that would never use. There is no reason to take up space with add-ons you don't care about. This decision keeps it lean and enables you to have the tablet you want.

However, that does not mean you get nothing with the basic package. The tablet comes stocked with a range of different features that you can tweak, shift, or use to your liking.

You get all the standard Google apps (Drive, Gmail, Play, Photos, Maps and others), Lenovo's stock apps (including Calendar, Camera, Music, Email, SYNCit HD cloud backup app and the SHAREit file transfer app), as well as useful third-party apps like Amazon Kindle, Evernote, and Kingsoft's Microsoft Office-compatible WPS Office suite. The office suite is particularly great for anyone who uses their tablet for business or more serious use.

All of this is powered by the MediaTek process, which ensures there is no annoying lag while scrolling or opening apps. Everything on the device helps generate a single smooth and cohesive experience. Another great part of the Lenovo tab 2 a10 review.

Top of the Line Performance

Another strong spot for the Tab 2 is the performance. The MediaTek, as discussed above, is incredibly strong, but it does not work alone. The quad-core processor comes with 2GB of RAM, which is great for listening to music, watching movies, and surfing the web. You can also play games or access your favorite apps without worry about stalling.

Speed is an incredibly important part of this system, and the tablet's power generates an incredibly fast response time. That means you can quickly move around your tablet with little to no resistance.

The extra power also makes sure that you can access and use the device's features at the same time. Most modern tablets are able to perform multiple functions at once, and the Tab 2 gives you that experience at a much lower price point.

It is easy to listen to music while you surf the internet or while you navigate between your favorite apps on the device. There is also special app-switcher navigation to create even less downtime and further streamline the entire process.

Of course, a tablet is not useful if it cannot hold all of the data you need it to. The Lenovo Tab 2 A10 comes with 16GB of onboard storage, which provides plenty of room for daily leisure or business.

However, as with so many parts of the device, that can be upgraded. All you need is an SD card and you can extend your memory to 64GB. Those type of customizable add-ons ensures you always get the experience you want, no matter how your life progresses. You may not need the space now, but that could change down the line.

High-Quality Pictures and Videos

As touched on above, another draw of the Lenovo Tab 2 is its incredible dual cameras. You get both front-facing and rear-facing options. That combination ensures you can either record and capture anything you want in stunning high-quality images.

The 8-MP rear camera is all about giving you excellent photos in extreme detail and incredible clarity. That then works alongside the front-facing camera, which allows you to capture selfies, to give you the ability to record all of life's best moments.

The front-facing camera also comes with a 5-megapixel sensor. This is a nice upgrade because it adds quality and reliability to your video calls, allowing them to come through in the best way possible.

However, the cameras do not operate on their own. Rather than just give you pictures, the Lenovo also comes with a few apps to complement them. One, in particular, is Picture in Picture. This feature enables you to take two photos at the same time. Then, you can place one in a polaroid-film frame.

Lenovo's Camera app also comes with the same "Face beauty mode" you expect on Android phones and tablets.

Those apps show off some of the Lenovo Tab 2's versatility and reveal what makes it so strong for both casual and more serious technological users. You can sit back and snap a few pics, but you can also use programs to take your photography to the next level.

Long-Lasting and Reliable Battery Life

Whenever you have a device with as many upgrades and features as the Lenovo Tab 2, you want to make sure you can use it as much as possible. The tablet meets you on that front with enough battery life to last you throughout the day.

This Lenovo tab 2 a10 review shows that the 7000mAh battery gives the device a ton of power and makes sure you never need to constantly look for an outlet or charger. The Tab 2 comes with a whopping 10 to 12 hours of battery power, putting it well ahead of other tablets on the market.

Nothing is more annoying than relaxing only to have your battery die or fall to red. Similarly, it is also a hassle to have to find an outlet for your charger. Never having to worry about such issues is a great bonus that adds extra ease to your life.

Choose Your Personal Configuration

You couldn't do a full Lenovo Tab 2 A10 review without discussing the device's numerous configuration options. Upgrades are a big part of technology in today's world. Not only do people like to personalize their devices, but they also want the option to constantly improve.

The Tab 2 comes with 32GB of flash storage, as opposed to the entry-level model's 16GB. Lenovo also offers a few useful accessories for the Tab 2, including a 16GB USB and micro USB flash drive (which can be purchased for $25). You can also get a $30, 5000mAh external battery for even more battery life.

Not everyone is going to upgrade their tablet, and not everyone is going to buy add-ons. However, the option to do so should a situation ever arise is an important choice to have when it comes to modern technology.

Great Options and an Affordable Price

The final reason to choose a Lenovo Tab 2 A10 over other models is because of its affordable price. As you can see above, this model can do what any other can do, and there are many areas where it goes beyond the call of duty.

Cheap tablets are not hard to come by, but cheap tablets that come with the complete package are. This Lenovo tab 2 a10 review gives you everything you could want without forcing you to break the bank or pay too much.

Impressive, Stylish, and Affordable

Dell Canvas Is The Latest 27-Inch Display Workstation

January 8, 2017 By Lori David Leave a Comment

CES 2017 saw the release of the initial details and first look at the Dell Canvas workstation.

CES 2017 saw the release of the initial details and a first look at the Dell Canvas, a 27-inch display workstation that could fulfill some user dreams.

Dell Technologies is a Round Rock, Texas-based company. It was founded in September 2016 after the incorporation of Dell Inc. The original company merged with the EMC Corporation.

Dell is an information technology corporation. It is involved in various technological areas. These include the personal computer, computer software, and network and computer security domains. Smartphones and television manufacturing are some other examples.

During CES 2017, the company announced the release of its latest product. The Dell Canvas will be a quite large workspace. It will reportedly function similarly to the Microsoft Surface Studio. However, Canvas will not replace a computer.

The device will work as a sort of display. It can be connected to a personal computer or other monitors. A connection can be established with help from a USB or Thunderbolt.

Dell’s Canvas will have a 27-inch display. This will have a Quad HD or 2,560 x 1,440 resolution. The screen will be protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass. As such, it should be quite resistant. It will also be etched with a special, anti-reflective coating. This will give a more matte look when compared to other digital screens.

The Dell Canvas will have a somewhat thicker bezel. It will have 1-inch at the top and 3 at the bottom. Dell reportedly chose this design so as to allow for sweeping pen strokes.

Its pen will be more sensitive when compared to others. This will have 2,048 points of pressure. The Canvas screen will support 20 touch points. That is double the usual 10 points of touch.

The Canvas pack kit will come with two readily included dial accessories. There will be a small one, called the Knob. The other will be large and titled the Dial. Dell has taken to calling the dial accessories “totems”. They will only function when placed directly on the screen.

During the CES demo, the Dell Canvas mostly sat an angle. This gave it a similar appearance to a drafting board. As such, it may also indicate one of its main functions.

Canvas will reportedly to a maximum 11-degrees angle. Still, an additional stand will be offered. Through it, the display can be angled up to 85 degrees.

The device will be adapted for a Windows desktop support. However, it will also offer some enhancements to the usual desktop experience. As such, it will offer some features for when the Canvas is not actively used.

The desktop can be minimized when using the Dell Canvas. As such, programs will be divided into boxes. These should ensure a quick access. They could also account for a greater touch control. As it is, the enhancements should ensure an easier and faster multitasking. It should also make it easier to launch software.

Dell Canvas standard kits will reportedly come with a $1,799 price tag. Additional devices will also be offered. For example, the extra stand will have an estimated added $399 cost.

Still quite expensive, the Dell Canvas is nonetheless more accessible when compared to other market variants. The fact that it is an independent piece might also contribute.

As opposed to other similar devices, Canvas will come in front, and not instead of another device.

iPad Mini 4 Comes With a Smaller Battery Than its Predecessor

iPad Mini 4 Comes With a Smaller Battery Than its Predecessor

Apple continues the trend of downsizing their device’s batteries without reducing their battery life. Not only the new iPhone model is equipped with smaller batteries than its predecessor, the new iPad Mini 4 also sports a smaller battery than its older counterpart, the iPad Mini 3.

The iPad Mini 4 packs a single-cell battery with a capacity of 5,125mAh, considerably smaller than the 6,472mAh two-cell battery that’s found inside its predecessor. However, just like in the case of the new iPhones, Apple promises equal battery life thanks to their new battery saving A8 chips. Performance-wise, the Apple A8 chip is more powerful than ever before as well, it has been clocked at 1.5GHz and is accompanied by 2GB of RAM memory.

The device promises 10 hours of battery use while Wi-Fi browsing, and nearly 9 hours on mobile networks. So apparently, the new Apple 7.9 inch tablet will pack the same battery life as the previous version, only that it will be thinner than ever before – neat, right?

Specifically, the iPad Mini 4 will be nearly 20% thinner than the iPad Mini 3. The device will be 6.1 mm, but also much lighter than the previous model, at only 0.64 pounds. The display features an anti-reflective screen – the same that is used by Aapple’s iPad Air 2 – again, helping the device to slim down ever more. However, the website iFixit notes that because of the thinner design, the repair costs will also increase considerably, and that there is almost no chance to repair the device all by yourself.

The device’s upgrade to 2GB of Ram was a good idea, meaning that the new iPad Mini 4 will easily support all the multitasking features available with iOS 9. Tim Cook declared that more memory was needed if you want to run two apps at the same time. The RAM upgrade nearly makes the iPad Mini 4 as fast as the new iPad Air 2, but not quite. Recent benchmarks found that the iPad Air’s A8X chip is almost 50% faster than the iPad Mini 4’s A8, mainly due to the fact that the A8X is a tri-core CPU, whilst the A8 is only dual core.

Aside from the new design, change in battery sizes, new CPU and RAM upgrades, the people iFixit did not notice any other crucial differences between the iPad Mini 4 and the iPad Mini 3. Some buttons and speakers were moved around a bit but that is about it.

Amazon Launches $50 Fire Tablet

September 17, 2015 By Micheal Baptiste Leave a Comment

Amazon Launches a $50 Fire Tablet

Amazon introduced a new $50 tablet called Fire. Analyst experts said that the price was low enough to tell it apart from other tablets and attract more customers.

Thew new Fire tablet from Amazon.com comes with a 7 inch screen and rear and front-facing cameras. The device suffered a bunch of upgrades and it will be rolled out on the market on September 30. Amazon realized that there is one sector of the tablet market that is growing at a much faster rate, that of under $100 devices. Senior vice president at Amazon, David Limp, boasts that the company’s last tablet, the $99 Fire HD was one of the best-selling tablets last year on Amazon.

Analyst experts said that there are very few tablets of this price that compare to the quality of Amazon’s new Fire tablet. Amazon also puts out an interesting offer by which they offer a free tablet for every five tablet bundle. That means six tablets for less than $250.

Amazon has learned that as consumer electronic markets mature, consumers become interested in cheaper products. And that is reflected in the $200 Fire smartphone sales. Drawing more customers could be beneficial for Amazon but if they fail to seel their products in large volumes things could prove costly.

The company said that they will not profit much from the new Fire investments, but rather what they are trying to achieve is draw more customers toward their services. Amazon openly admitted that they are out of the phone business. The company recognized that was a mistake and set up to sell only tablets from now on. Analysts consider that a smart strategic move from the company.

Considering the price, the tablet’s specs are not as bad one might tend to believe. In fact, they are actually more than decent. The new  Fire tablet will be equipped with a powerful 1.3Ghz quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, rear and front-facing cameras, 8GB of storage memory with the possibility of expanding it up to 128GB, and a lot of Amazon exclusive services, such as: Fire OS 5, Amazon Underground, Amazon Video, World Runner (an exciting new app that will help you read anything much faster than you thought it is possible), Prime Video, and more.

Just How Much Better is the iPad Pro Compared to the iPad Air 2?

September 12, 2015 By Nicholas Anderton Leave a Comment

Just How Much Better is the iPad Pro Compared to the iPad Air 2

They are currently Apple’s largest tablets and iOS devices, the iPad Air 2 and the brand new iPad Pro. How does the new iPad compare to the iPad Air 2? We’re about to see.

Let’s start with what’s important, the specs. The iPad Pro has been equipped with the newest A9x chipster, which, according to Apple, is nearly twice as fast (1.8x) than the A8X chip found in the iPad Air 2. Both iPads are running iOS 9, the only difference is that the iPad Pro, thanks to the bigger screen, will be more suited to the operating system multi-tasking functions than its predecessor.

The new iPad Pro is considerably bigger than the iPad Air 2. Apple demonstrated at the tablet’s launch event that you could fit two iPad Air 2 devices into the new iPad’s screen. The iPad Pro is also a bit heavier at 1.56 pounds, whereas the iPad Air 2 weighs only 0.96 pounds.

Due to its 12.9 inch wide screen, the iPad Pro is far less portable than its predecessor, which is only 9.7 inch wide. But that also comes with advantages for getting your work done quicker, such as split-screen multitasking and a better resolution and viewing angles.

Though both iPad tablets are equipped with gorgeous Retina displays, the iPad Air 2’s resolution (2,048 x 1,536) pales in comparison with iPad Pro’s crystal clear display of 2,732 x 2,048 pixels. Apple has already done the math for us, the iPadPro has 5.6 million pixels active on the screen, whereas the iPad Air 2 “only” 3.1 million. While the difference may appear enormous, given the difference in size, both devices have 264 pixels per inch.

Both iPads are armed with the same 8mp rear camera and a 1.2 front-facing cameras, because Apple decided they are more than enough for a tablet, since pads are rarely used for photography.

One of the most important additions to the iPad series is that the iPad Pro comes equipped with four speakers, two at the top and two at the bottom, creating a wonderful stereo soundstage compared to what the two bottom speakers of the iPad Air 2’s are capable of. Apple is proud that they found a way to complement the large screen with quality speakers. Another advantage of the iPad Pro is that it is compatible with the new Apple Pencil stylus.

The iPad Pro will arrive in November this year, and it starts at a price of $799.99. Is it worth switching your iPad Air 2 with the new Apple tablet? It depends on you. It seems like the iPad Pro is mostly aiming at digital artists and business companies who need on-the-go editing functionality for their documents.
