The Secret Behind The Dispatch Of The New Ford GT

By Leave a Comment

The Secret Behind The Dispatch Of The New Ford GT It was an unveiling that caught many off guard. On January 12 at the Auto Show in Detroit Ford disclosed  a new edition of a standout amongst the most famous autos in American history, the GT.  This week Raj Nair Ford Group Vice President, Global Product Development, and Chief Technical Officer took a couple of minutes to discuss the dispatch of the new Ford GT. Nair was at the new Ford Performance Technical Center in Concord NC Tuesday as a part of the 2015 NASCAR Media Tour.

The last new GT’s were for the 2005-2006 model years. That model was based on the G T40 racecars of the 1960s. The new GT will be and ultra-elite supercar that Ford says represents an innovation showcase for top EcoBoost execution and lightweight carbon fiber development.

Entering in production process this year, the GT will be accessible in select worldwide markets to commend the 50th celebration of Ford GT race autos ranking 1-2-3 at the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans. Nair reported that there will be no right hand version but the GT will be accessible in many markets.

The dispatch of the GT was without a doubt surprising. It was kept underground through the outline process. Keeping that mystery wasn’t simple according to Nair.

The Ford official detailed that the according to simulations the car is very fast thanks to the 3.5 Ecoboost which will make it an extraordinary commercial vehicle. He added that the model would also perform well in races even though there has not been any talk about a race model.

Nair proceeded disclosing that the car concept was only known by a small group and was not even in the main studios. More exactly the project team worked at the Dearborn Product Development Center, a huge center with a sub-basement level below it that’s joined by tunnels.  The team used an old area there and established a secret dedicated studio.  The area was only accessible using old-fashioned keys and lock to ensure that only the right people got in.

However, some of the board members were acquainted with the venture. Eventually the project team presented the concept car to the Board for endorsement but even after that everything was kept secret, the Ford official noted.

The design team had three goals to reach with the new Ford GT. The first was to pay attention to aero engineers. The second was to make the car resemble as much as possible to the original GT 40. The third was to give the initial model a totally new interpretation so it would also make people think about upcoming supercars.
