The Sony Honami is set to challenge the Galaxy S4 Zoom and Nokia Lumia 1020, with an impressive camera and some decent specs under the hood, we can see this being a real contender in the camera phone battle.
A new report and gallery shots reconfirms the 20MP sensor coming to the Sony Honami and the report details 4K video can be captured through the new smartphone. Sony will be bringing their decades of camera work onto the Honami, as they try to mesh DSLR quality with the phone.
The 20MP camera will have G Lens technology from Sony and f/2.4 aperture, it will be a beast of a camera, despite having half the megapixels the Nokia Lumia 1020 has, it will still be a very competitive device on the photo front, with incredible stabilisation and image quality accuracy.
We know the Sony Honami will be a little larger than the 5-inch Xperia Z, we can see this coming at around 5.2 or 5.5-inches and will sport a 1080p display, Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. This will all be a big chunk of the battery and Sony has not had the best reputation for long lasting devices.
No word on pricing yet, we can expect the smartphone to come for the same price most high-end devices do in the US, $199 on a two year contract and about $620 – 699 off contract. Sony has sent out press invites to IFA 2013 on September 6, the same date the Galaxy Note 3 is expected to arrive.
