Windows 10 Updates Becoming More Persistent

By Leave a Comment

Windows 10 has not had a smooth release

Just like any other operating system launch, Windows 10 has not had a smooth release, without some ups and downs too. First there was the selective method of pushing the newest Microsoft operating system; then there were plenty of bugs that people were getting when trying to update. The confusing way serial keys worked, the infamous ‘Something happened’ error and last but not least, the sneaky ‘ninja’ updates to Windows 10 – where people realized the new OS had been installed on their machines without consent.

The last one of these problems had left a lot of users unhappy, naturally, but seemed that they had mostly stopped for a while; at least until this weekend. After several months of being a fairly quiet front, Friday marked the day when Microsoft suddenly started receiving an enormous amount of complaints all of a sudden coming from Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 users who had their systems upgraded without consent.

But Microsoft’s inbox was not the only place where unhappy users related their stories of very poorly timed and unfortunate updates. Reddit was another website that boomed with users who had to go through the most regrettable updating experiences at the end of last week. Some even relate how – at the time of update – they were already using their computers, hadn’t clicked on any confirmation box when the computer simply started closing all of its programs and proceeding to reboot in order to install Windows 10, with zero prior notification of it or at least a method of declining it.

While it’s a huge discomfort when this happens to you at home, the more disastrous effects were felt by companies, doctor’s offices and other facilities that require their systems to function. While some were less unfortunate and were only stuck waiting around for around half an hour to be able to use their computers, others ended up being brutally told that they needed to enter a password that they had set years ago and had no recollection of or access to.

There is a huge debate ongoing at the very moment regarding this issue, with Microsoft defending itself by indirectly shifting the blame on the user for not paying attention to how those selected their update settings, some of the ‘victims’ have found some irregularities in the system that they believe is the true culprit. Several individuals who got hit by the unexpected Windows 10 Update hammer claim and support their allegations via screenshots and logs that Windows kept turning updates on despite them manually unchecking the Windows 10 option for example.

No current fix is currently known, other than downright turning every single system update on if you want to avoid a forced update to the latest Microsoft Operating system.
