Acer has come up with its new Aspire R7 device which is a true multi faceted gadget. This since it comes with a hinge termed “Ezel” which gives it the capability to be used as a notebook, a tablet or just a display device. The Ezel hinge has the ability to be adjusted by the user as per own requirement and comfort. The user can disconnect the screen all together from the main body of the device and use the touchscreen capabilities more comfortably. The screen can also be swung around the Ezel hinge to transform it for viewing purpose only.
Other specifications of the Aspire R7 include an Intel Core i5 processor and a 6 GB RAM. The device comes with an hard disk space of 500 GB while the internal SSD is of 25 GB capacity. As for the display, it measures 15.6 inch and boasts of a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The touchscreen experience is further enhanced with the Microsoft’s Kinect like “Screen Grasp” technology that the makers have incorporated in the display. The device comes with an HDMI port and the standard fit of Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, SD Card reader and an audio jack. It also has three USB ports for attaching other devices. Another huge plus of the R7 is its incorporation of Dolby Home Theater audio system.
Interestingly, it was Acer themselves that had revealed they have such a device up their sleeves thanks to a promotional video doing the rounds for a week now highlighting the new hinge feature and its benefits. Acer has never been known to have any interest in such multi functional devices and therefore this product comes as a warm surprise.
Details about what price the device would carry when it starts to retail has not yet been divulged. Pre-order bookings for the device would be opened on 16th May with the device being expected to be available at Best Buy stores from the 17th. For early birds the company has offered the Star Trek game included in the price.
