There are already many devices for measuring the performance of those exercising in their spare time. Some use strips mounted on the chest, synchronized with their watch (Suunto), others prefer arm bands (BodyMedia), while many have chosen applications of smartphones (Endomondo, Runtastic). But smart bracelets are now in fashion. Activity Tracker, formerly known as the S Band, was officially presented by Samsung in Germany. Activity Tracker was presented in the media before the official release and now Samsung has decided to officially present its new accessory.
The price for the Activity Tracker from Samsung is 79.9EUR and with it, it can become a major competitor for Nike FuelBand, Jawbone UP and even the entire portfolio of Fitbit. The new device from Samsung is compatible only with its products, which could change soon if we think that Samsung made the same move with the Gear Galaxy launch.
Activity Tracker, the bracelet that tells you how healthy you are
Unlike other accessories launched by the company, Activity Tracker does not have a display, but instead, it will focus on collecting data transmitted to a smartphone that will be interpreted by applications dedicated to fitness and health. Activity Tracker can be worn as a bracelet and has five LED notifications. Plus, it looks very cool. Activity Tracker comes with a microUSB port for charging and physical syncing, and Bluetooth 4.0 to stay connected wirelessly.
Activity Tracker has two modes, sleep and active which are easily activated using the switch located on the left side of the bracelet. The power button is located on the right and pressing it down for a couple of seconds, it can initiate Bluetooth pairing.
This device will be coming with both the clothing clip and the armband soon. Activity Tracker can be pre-ordered on Amazon for 79.90 Euro, but if you pay with your credit card and sign a contract for the Amazon-credit card you’ll find a 30 Euro discount, meaning you will only pay 49.90 Euro.
