Motorola Moto 360 Smartwatch Features

September 16, 2014 By Micheal Baptiste Leave a Comment

The most important news about smartwatches as of late was about Apple’s iWatch released last week. But we haven’t forgotten about another anticipated smartwatch, the Motorola Moto 360 and we want to share with you some of its most important features.

The Moto 360 was first announced at a Google conference in June and it was presented as a flagship smart device for Android Wear. With its metal case and rounded face, the Moto 360 smartwatch was released earlier this month.

moto 360

Some would say that the Moto 360 is the best smartwatch on the market right now, but as with many smartwatches, this too doesn’t come with an outstanding app. There are many who wonder why would anyone need a smartwatch when you can do basically the same things on a smartphone.

One of the most distinctive features about the Moto 360 is its round face. Most of the smartwatches available have that square or rectangular face which doesn’t make them look like watches.  The fact that the Moto 360 has a rounded face makes you think that you’re looking at a watch and not at some miniature smartphone or something. The stainless steel case and leather strap make it look solid and not cheap. The thickness can be a bit of turn off (more than 1 cm thick) because it rises off the wrist and it looks a bit weird. It’s a good thing that the Moto 360 is fairly lightweight (less than 2 ounces). The screen has a low resolution and it shows the time like one of those plastic watches we used to have as kids.

The Moto 360 does what all smartwatches do: tell you the time, keep track of appointments, act as a pedometer and monitor the pulse rate.

The Moto 360 has 4GB of storage and you can get it for $250.

Apple iWatch Revealed on Tuesday 10th of September

September 10, 2014 By Mary Duncan Leave a Comment

The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus were not the only new devices we’ve been looking forward from Apple. The Apple iWatch is also another device techies have been dying to get their hands on. Unfortunately the smartwatch is not yet available for purchasing but we do have some official news about it.

The new Apple iWatch is a customizable smartwatch that was designed to work with the iPhone 6 but was also designed as a health and fitness device. It allows the user to connect and communicate directly from the wrist. The Digital Crown allows you to interact with the watch without obstructing the screen and you can also operate it as a home button. Thanks to Siri, it lets you smart message and dictate. It has a flexible retina display and it recognizes the difference between a tap and a press thanks to the Force Touch feature.

apple iwatch specs

On the back of the iWatch there is a ceramic cover with sapphire lenses which help protect the four sensors used for the heart-rate monitor. The new smartwatch comes with an accelerometer that measures up the body movement and it also comes with Wi-Fi and GPS to track distance.

There are plenty of watch faces you can choose from, including Astronomy, Motion, Photo, Solar and even Mickey Mouse. The iWatch also comes with six interchangeable straps: the Sport Band is tough and sweat resistant , the Leather Loop has magnets for adjusting the watch. The other straps are called Classic Buckle, Link Bracelet, Milanese Loop and Modern Buckle.

The new iWatch is available in two sizes, a 38 mm and a 42 mm height.

Apple iWatch release date and price

The exact release date of the Apple Watch has not been yet disclosed but we’re thinking somewhere in early 2015. The price of the iWatch starts at $349 in the United States and the UK price still needs confirmation.

Apple iWatch and Apple iPhone 6 To Launch Together on 9 September

August 28, 2014 By Brandi McCants Leave a Comment

The forthcoming Apple iPhone 6 is going to be released this fall, on 9 September, as we reported before, backed up by dozens of other similar reports. It is going to be the event of this autumn, without a doubt, and the media, together with analysts and tech experts are counting days until the big reveal. But more recent reports and opinions suggest that on 9 September we will witness a double revealing event, as the tech behemoth will release both the Apple iWatch and Apple iPhone 6 together!

apple iwatch and apple iphone 6

John Paczkowski from Re/Code is behind this hot piece of news, and he is one expert whose predictions on Apple’s releases and events proved to become true along the years. If this is true, the world is going to have a lot to deal with, as the smartwatches market is going to be flooded with fresh similar wearables: recently, LG announced a very fashionable round LG Watch R powered by Android, and Apple’s main competitor, Samsung, just unveiled

what it said was the first smartwatch capable of making and receiving calls without a mobile phone nearby

We will talk about Samsung’s big event later on, but back to the Apple iWatch and Apple iPhone 6, we have to admit they are probably the most expected and talked – about new devices on the market.

While there is some solid information related to the Apple iPhone 6, such as the fact that it will show up in two versions, one of 4.7 inches and a 5.5 inches one (although we will believe it only when we will see these exciting toys with our own eyes), the iWatch still gives plenty of room to speculations.

One of the most important such debates is whether or not the iWatch will be revealed together with the iPhone 6 or, to add more confusion to the lack of details, if we will even see it this year. As you know, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, another big name when it comes to Apple products, said more than once that the company would have the iWatch ready to roll not earlier than 2015. There is a long time between 9 September and next year, but we guess we will just have to wait.

What is so great about the future Apple iWatch? Since Apple can’t be considered a pioneer in the field, as the competition is fierce and smartwatches seem to pop up over night, the new product will have to rely on something new, different and spectacular, something that yells “innovation.”

It may be the long rumored HealthKit platform and the medical – related features, but it’s not the time to make even more assumptions. What is certain is the fact that the Apple iWatch and Apple iPhone 6 are going to be this fall’s VIPs, if they show up together hand in hand.

Apple iTime Patent Granted

July 22, 2014 By Nicholas Anderton Leave a Comment

On Tuesday Apple was granted patent for iTime, a “wrist-worn electronic device” by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The patent information conveys Apple’s idea regarding wearable technology. The most important aspect is that Apple plans on producing a device with interchangeable parts. The wrist-band will be a receptacle probably for health, media, fitness or other specialized gadgets. Apple plans to immerse iTime in its already established ecosystem. In the Apple iTime patent, the wristband is described as a device to be part of “personal wireless environment.” Data will thus be exchanged with other Apple devices like the iPhone and Macbook, as expected. The wristband recalls of what happened with the sixth-generation iPod Nano, as the tiny media player received a number of wrist strapping solutions. Apple recently recruited a sales executive from Tag Heuer, the Swiss luxury watches company, specifically for Apple’s smartwatch project. The device is expected to launch in the fall.

Apple iTime patent reveals the probable functions of the company’s smartwatch

The patent application contains a number of characteristics of the future iTime. Among others, accelerometers, GPS modules, haptic feed-back, antennas, gyroscopes, and wireless packages might increase the device’s functionality. According to InformationWeek, ‘wristband’ appears 138 times in the document, a clear indication of a versatile approach. But what functions would need specific hardware to provide service? A smartwatch sporting Android OS can perform most of the functions imagined so far for a wearable device. The challenge from now on would be to put the instruments such as gyroscopes, accelerometers and processors to work in novel and exciting ways. Clearly having a frame supporting various devices reduces costs. As the patent application was filed in 2011, Apple must have taken precautions to make sure a future technology could be implemented in the concept at a later date.

Apple iTime patent features a multifunctional wristband

The wristband will feature media player controls and control over apps or system functions. Moreover, the patent includes the possibility to link the iPhone to iTime to offer information about the smartphone’s location. Control through gestures is specified in the patent application as well. Arm and wrist gesture will activate features or perform specific tasks. By shaking, bouncing or taping the device, users will probably have the possibility to answer phone calls, among other, as AppleInsider notes.

Albert J. Golko, Mathias W. Schmidt and Felix Alvarez are credited as the inventors of iTime in the Apple iTime patent application package.

Apple recruited TAG Heuer Sales Executive for iWatch

July 4, 2014 By Lori David Leave a Comment

The smartwatch world gets more competitive. Even Microsoft decided to reengage with wearable products. To strengthen the team around the iWatch, Apple recruited TAG Heuer sales executive. The announcements and rumors in the last two years built up incredibly high expectations for Apple iWatch. Everyone expects each new product launched by Apple to be a premium device. But to live up to the challenge, this time Apple assembled a super team around the iWatch production. Apple hasn’t shone as much after Jobs passed away. iPhone 5S has not been more than a modest upgrade of the previous model and a slight improvement in comparison the 4th version. Not so many revolutions from Apple in the last while. What could the iWatch possibly feature that will make us love Apple once again? We do not doubt that the hardware and the software will run exactly as intuitively and as seamlessly as the previous Apple products. The newly launched Android Wear already impressed some people though its functionality, although the beta version can surely be improved. Motorola Moto 360, for example, impresses with its stylish classical design.

Apple recruited TAG Heuer sales executive for iWatch launch and assembles a star-team

The new member of the iWatch team is Patrick Pruniaux, the former VP of Sales and Retail of TAG Heuer. The Swiss company produces luxury watches and Pruniaux is a huge loss for them, as rumors say that TAG Heuer plans to produce smartwatches as well. The move makes perfect sense for Apple. Pruniaux will deliver exactly what the company needs right now, an even better understanding of luxury watches clientele. Moreover, TaG Heuer is a widely recognizable luxury watches company, in comparison to other peer companies and this has a lot to do with its aggressive marketing.

Apple recruited TAG Heuer sales executive to create star team around iWatch

The former TAG Heuer employee will join an iWatch star-team. Among other experts on medical sensors, engineers and fitness experts, many of them come from Nike. Tim Cook, Apple CEO, was very appreciative to Nike Fuel Band, the company fitness oriented wrist device. Angela Ahrendts, former Burberry Chief Executive became Apple’s Head of Retail and Online Sales about two months ago. Another star playing for Apple since last year is Paul Deneve from Yves Saint Laurent, according to The Financial Post. His position covers special projects. The iWatch will probably, and finally, be presented this fall together with the iPhone 6. Both devices will run iOS 8, an OS version designed with wearables in mind. During the interview for CNBC, TAG Heuer CEO, was the first to actually reveal a transfer to Apple. Apple recruited TAG Heuer sales executive, but it was not the only attack on the Swiss company. Rumors say that other TAG Heuer employees were unsuccessfully courted as well by Apple.

Apple Biosensing iWatch: Facts, Rumors and News

May 6, 2014 By David Crozier Leave a Comment

apple biosensing iWatchWe are all used to Apple rumors and we are expecting and welcoming them every day, as the tech giant seems to wish to turn this year into a historical milestone in its development. Not so long ago we were talking about the upcoming iWatch, promised to make a revelatory appearance this fall, and its incredible features and ultimate goals. We also said back then that there was still enough time until September and that all rumors should be taken with the proverbial grain of salt. Well, now things are starting to make more and more sense, as a lot of rumors, statements and facts are stepping into the light in order to reveal a bigger and a clearer picture of where is the iWatch going to: it seems that it will be more than a time – telling device that looks cool, it is going to be a health / medical gadget meant to change our perspective on wearables and biotechnology. However, we all knew this, right?

But let’s take a step back and take a deeper look over the matters. In the last year, according to the specialists watching closely Apple’s activity, it seems that the tech mammoth hired a lot of senior medical technology executives, building a team of experts in the biomedical field, the hardware field and other medical – tech related areas. This mass scientists hiring is easily observable by checking LinkedIn changes of profiles and jobs, while people familiar with the hiring and Apple’s plans said, under complete anonymity, that the actual number of hires is still unknown.

Since the majority of hires focused on experts in the sensor technology and biomedicine, the facts can only lead to one conclusion: we will witness the creation of the Apple biosensing iWatch, a device with multiple applications in the monitoring and preserving users’ health and well – being. This conclusion is further strengthen by the statements of Ted Driscoll, a partner at Claremont Creek Ventures (a Silicon Valley expert who specialized in digital health and medical devices). According to Reuters, he declared that

Apple seemed primarily focused on recruiting engineers with experience in “monitoring the body’s perimeters.”

Now the medical – tech wearable devices aren’t a thing of the present, as many other tech giants tried to come up with smartwatches that can help people stay healthy and monitor some of their vital functions in order to prevent any unfortunate health problem to occur, but so far, on a very large scale, users didn’t get along too well with their wearable healthy – geeky devices. While Apple biosensing iWatch may change completely this state of facts, let’s not forget that Google’s approach is quite revolutionary too: their experts are working on contact lenses provided with microcameras that can monitor the glucose levels in tears, not to mention that the Google Glass can have tremendous benefits in the surgical field. With these rumors spinning around our heads, it is clear that it will be a hard game to play in the health wearable gadgets’ market. Until then, let’s wait for more rumors on Apple biosensing iWatch and try to make the best out of them!

Apple’s iWatch to Release in 2014 – Know about Specs and Features

June 3, 2013 By Micheal Baptiste Leave a Comment

Contrary to rumors that the iWatch, Apple’s innovative wearable computer, will launch this year, tech analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has made a bold prediction that the device will not launch until late 2014. The KGI Securities analyst observes that Apple will take time to harness the resources needed to create an iOS for the iWatch.

apple-iwatch

Kuo has also given some hints on the possible specs for the iWatch. The display will measure 1.5-2 inches diagonally and will not feature an OLED panel as rumored.  He expects the wearable design to allow “secure user identification and biometrics functionality,” so it will not be a time-telling device. Further, Kuo expects the iWatch to incorporate iPod Nano’s GF2 touch technology and application processor. Rumors have been mentioning that Apple’s fingerprint scanning technology will be incorporated in the device.

Apple fans are probably expecting to hear more on the iWatch at the Worldwide Developers Conference scheduled for June. However, Apple has not revealed any official information on such a device. And, as Kuo said, an exclusive iOS version for the supposed iWatch will require more time and effort.

With Google Glass expected to hit the shelves soon, tech enthusiasts are speculating the arrival of the iWatch alongside Google’s glass. Both the devices have grabbed attention for being wearable computers. Google has already released a developer version of the Google Glass and is preparing to launch a consumer version soon. The soon-to-launch Google Glass and the rumored iWatch have been compared to weigh their usability, features and futuristic technology, particularly hands-free operation.

Forecasts that the iWatch will launch late could be of interest to Samsung, which is currently working on a smartwatch. In fact, Samsung has been striving to launch the device before Apple introduces its competing iWatch.

iWatch Release Date to Company iPhone 5S or iPhone 6?

May 29, 2013 By Micheal Baptiste Leave a Comment

Apple’s rumored iWatch is making a lot of buzz at a time when Apple fans are busy speculating the release of the next iPhone and iPad. The latest buzz is that a new iPhone advertisement features someone wearing a smartwatch, sparking off rumors that Apple is hinting at its iWatch.

While Apple has said nothing about it, analysts are expecting iWatch to have a big role in raising revenue for the company, alongside the next iPhone. Recalling the release date of iPhone 4S and iPhone 5 last year, many are expecting the successors – iPhone 5S or iPhone 6 – release date could be in September-October this year. There are possibilities that the iWatch will accompany the new handsets.

iWatch-iPhone-advertisement

Sources are expecting the iWatch to come with the iOS 7, Apple’s latest mobile operating system, which is expected on the next handset. KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted that the iWatch will not debut until late 2014, giving the time, effort and resources required to create an iOS version for the smartwatch. Nevertheless, tech geeks are eagerly waiting for some news on the device at the forthcoming Worldwide Developers Conference.

Apple CEO Tim Cook, during the latest earnings call, said that the company is working on new hardware, software and services that will be introduced this fall and through 2014. Analysts are predicting that Apple has a big line of products for 2013, including upgraded Apple TV, iPads, iPods, iMacs, MacBooks, iPhones, and the supposed smartwatch, i.e., iWatch.

Apple is probably waiting till late 2013 to release its products because of production issues. Sources relate the issues to the departure of top executives from Apple’s China partner Foxconn, which handles mass production. Or, it is Apple’s tactic to maximize the sales of iPhone 5 released in 2012. Regardless, rumors about the iWatch release alongside other Apple devices are abounding.
