Apple is planning to create another iPhone offspring next year, a smaller version of the recently launched iPhone 6, according to some analysts. The mini version of the popular handset is scheduled to be released next fall. As indicated by Timothy Arcuri, an expert with Cowen and Company, Apple intends to design a 4inch screen ‘mini’ brother of its popular gadget, iPhone 6.
The trend of mini phones was initiated by Samsung, about three years ago, and was gradually followed by other tech giants such as HTC, LG or Sony. Basically, manufacturers create a smaller device that replicates the looks and attitude of full-size versions. However, the small brothers usually have mid-range chips and some different display features.
In a note to financial specialists, caught by Apple Insider, Arcuri says that his informers have data that the new device’s execution levels would be comparable to those of iPhone 5S. Nevertheless, the screen would have the bended edges found in iPhone 6. As per Arcuri, Apple is going to retail the handset as a substitute of the vivid iPhone 5C. According to various reports in China and Taiwan, Apple is already counting down the days of iPhone 5C, as it plans to stop its manufacturing next year.
More than anything else, Apple users are interested in getting more storage. So, even if the company dispatches a 4inch phone or new 4.7inch and 5.5inch models, subscribers will be first looking at memory space.
Apple remains the only main smartphone producer that excludes memory extension by means of an SD or Micro SD card. This implies that those using an iPhone must use cloud memory or pay a very high additional sum to have more space for their files, be they documents, videos or photos.
According to a survey conducted in UK by some app developers, 8% of those questioned consumed all their memory in one day. The study regarded only iPhone owners and was released mid-December. Also, 12% of respondents were compelled to erase documents to free up space “no less than once a week” while 22% encountered the same issue once a month.
The study additionally found that 91% of those surveyed had chosen the 16GB rendition of the phone on the grounds that the 32GB, 64GB or 128GB options were too costly.
Neil Cybart, an Apple expert said that the company actually relies on iPhone owners using up all their space on the 16GB devices so that they upgrade to a more costly version of the gadget with increased stockpiling memory.
