The site gained new supporter after hack attack.
According to a couple of rumors floating around the internet it would seem that the cyber-attacked which targeted the Ashley Madison may have had the opposite effect. Ashley Madison Gained more supporters after a data breach.
Earlier this year, Ashley Madison, a “special” dating site which is capable of offering discreet relationships, was hacked by an unidentified group of hackers. According to Avid Media Life, the site’s caretakers, the hackers managed to work around their security protocols and access the personal data of over 32 million users.
The cyber-attack impacted over 39 million premium users of this site. The company has no idea about who was behind these attacks or what the group’s intentions were. Now on to the odd part. In spite of the security breach, which should have meant a premature death to the side, the effect was quite opposite.
Instead of losing members, the site actually managed to draw new ones. According to a statistic released by Avid Media Life, after hacking incident, 4 million new members have created an account on the online dating site.
Still, official spokespersons from Avid Media Life refrained from making elaborate comments regarding the incident or what the company intends to do about the security leak. Naturally, one would fear that his privacy is at risk and would urge the company to reinforce internet security.
Instead of assuring their clients about their concerns regarding data privacy, Avid Media Life took a rain check and made no official statement. In fact, the last time that Avid Media Life came forward with an official comment was in August.
During the official comment, representatives from Ashley Madison didn’t say a thing about the incident. Their press comments centered around the rumors circling around the internet about their early retirement. According to these rumors, the company lost much in the hack attack, more than they would like to admit.
Thus, according to those unsubstantiated rumors, the duo Ashley Madison-Avid Media Life is preparing to go out of business. Refuting the wanton allegations, Avid Media Life declared that the company is far from going into dissolution. In fact, the company is going so well that approximately 2.8 million women were chatting on the online platform a few days away after the hack attack.
Naturally, the company would want to patch a few holes in their security net before they are able to resume normal operations. Privacy and discretion being their core value, it is very important for the company to take steps in order to enforce these values.
