Blackberry had launched its Z10 model just a few months ago in the UK and Canadian market. The smartphone though had a very bland demand which in turn had translated into bleak sales in both the countries. That however did not deter Blackberry from coming out with their next model, the BB Q10 within a very short gap. This one is a QWERTY based smartphone and launched recently is the same UK and Canadian market. The makers had indeed taken a big risk which though proved worth it at the end.
Launch of the Blackberry Q10 in the UK and Canada occurred recently and was an instant success. Selfridges in the UK was the only retailer that had the smartphone for sale till this past weekend. They reported having gone out of stock in just two hours after sales began for the day. Bulk orders from exporters ensured the BB Q10 to be picked up in batches of 20 units each. Blackberry, on its part hasn’t come out with details of how many of its Q10 smartphones were sold though with 2000 of the smartphones having found buyers within just two hours of going on sale is proof enough of these being a big hit.
The next key market for the BB Q10 will be the US. With the smartphones already having received some sales success in the UK and Canada, this no doubt will have a positive effect on the smartphone’s appeal in the US. Exact dates for the launch of the BB Q10 in the US have not yet been confirmed though. Tentatively, it is expected to be the later part of May 2013. Price of the item in the US also has yet to be officially declared.
