Through this refund, UberPool will definitely soon raise in popularity.
The ever-rising in popularity transportation service Uber will be offering refunds through Uber Pool, the subservice that allows different fares to share the same car. Due to the variety of the service’s results and because a longer arrival time is possible, Uber is now also including a new feature called “Arrive By” which ensures its users a small refund if the fare ends up arriving later than its estimated time.
UberPool, the option that allows Uber users to carpool with strangers and thus save money, has been around since late 2014. During this time, Uber has stated that the UberPool option has been cost effective for its users and also brought a minor positive influence on traffic in areas where the option is commonly used.
Now, UberPool has been updated. Once the user enters their requested destination, they will initially be given an estimated arrival time. If the user agrees to the time, then the app now locks the duration. If the Uber driver is unable to reach the required destination in the given time, then Uber will be offering refunds to the user.
More specifically, Uber will be currently giving a $2 discount to the user’s next Uber fare. Even with the services in check, Uber has stated that they strongly believe that a majority of fares will arrive in the allocated time space.
The “Arrive By” feature is currently tested in Los Angeles. Nevertheless, Uber plans to expand the testing area soon as the feature has had a positive impact on its target audience. Uber also stated that UberPool is currently taking on more than 100,000 riders every week. This number was reported before the new “Arrive By” feature and as such UberPool is believed to increase in popularity even further.
The city of Los Angeles area was carefully chosen as the initial testing grounds due to its already high traffic numbers. The “Arrive By” feature of UberPool was made available through the app and all the Los Angeles users were notified via prompts of the new feature.
While everything is looking to be on the rise for the transportation service, it is safe to say that while Uber will be offering refunds to some of its riders, it won’t be doing so very often.
