Id Software starts closed alpha testing for Doom Multiplayer.
Long has Id Software been taunting us with revitalizing the Doom series. And who could say no to a classic game franchise such as Doom. So, in order to back up what they just said, Id begins alpha testing for Doom Multiplayer.
So, what’s this thingamabob about Doom or Id Sofware? For those of you who are either unaware or not into classic goodies, back in 1993, a little gaming company, by the name of Id software, launched a computer game that would revolutionize all we knew about gaming.
Basically, all the great shooters we play today can be traced back all the way to Doom. Yes, there are a couple of voices out there that keep on saying that Doom 1 wasn’t the progenitor of the modern-day first-person shooter. And they’re kinda right, but we have to remember that it was Doom 1 that reinvented FPS autonomy. And not to mention the weird hand motion. And of course, the BFG.
The game was deemed by the critics a masterpiece of its genre, and Id software went on constructing of the foundation they have laid when they released Doom 1. Other goodies followed quickly after that: Doom 2, Quake 1 and 2 and the immortal Return to Castle Wolfenstein.
If we are nostalgic in any way about the adventures of the space marine in the first installment of the game, then Id software wants to provide us with a cure for those oldies-blues.
After stepping down from the game scene, Id wants to stage a memorable comeback. And what better way to do it than announcing that they’re working on a new Doom game. Moreover, as a little incentive to all Doom fans out there, Id software also announced that they’ve begun to issue subscriptions to the game’s alpha testing.
The registration is structured on a first come, first served basis. Unfortunately, the testing will be performed in closed session conditions, meaning that those who didn’t get in must wait until the game hits the market.
As Id Software announced, the registration for the alpha testing will take place starting from the 3rd of December, at 7 pm and will end on the 6th of December at 8:59 pm. A note to those of you who are thinking of enrolling in the alpha testing phase of the games. In order to consider yourself eligible for enrolling in this event, you must fulfill two basic conditions: you either have to redeem the Doom beta key codes from New Order or to pre-purchase the games.
