Facebook On A Hiring Spree

The executives of Facebook said that 2015 will be a year when the social network will employ about 1,200 new people. This will happen due to the fact that the company will start significant investments in drones, data centers and goggles for virtual reality.

In 2014 Facebook bought Oculus Rift in a deal worth US $2-billion. Oculus Rift is a manufacturer of virtual reality headsets and Facebook wants to develop this crucial area. On the website of Facebook is listed a number of 54 available job positions for Oculus business. The largest social network on the planet is in the process of finding managers for global supply chain planning and procurement, as well as managers that are able to oversee logistics. According to some analysts, this is a pointer to the fact that a commercial release of the product may take place in the near future.

Headsets for virtual reality have a market that seems like it’s coming into existence. The potential for gaming, communications, entertaining or computing is really strong. With the preparations for this market’s emergence, Facebook’s activity reveals a powerful hint: the social tech giant wants to use Oculus to be at the center of this future new platform.

The company has plans for developing its own drones and satellites to launch on orbit. They will deliver Internet service for users located in remote regions on Earth. This is an area for hiring where Facebook is looking for specialists in thermal engineering, avionics and radio frequency communications. Facebook acquired Atlas, an online advertising technology two years ago, a field where the company wants to hire more than 20 employees.

Sheryl Sandberg, Facebook’s Chief Operating Officer, declared in an interview that the company is an ambitious one, like its CEO. She added that more and more Facebook offices are present throughout the world, as the business of the company gets larger and expands.

Facebook has its headquarteres in Menlo Park, California and wants a brand new building that is expected to be finished this year. Frank Gehry is the architect that designed this construction that will have a surface of about 500,000 square foot. The building will provide a workspace for 3,000 employees.

A top analyst from Sterne, Agee & Leach, Arvind Bhatia, declared that Facebook, with all these investments, is chasing numerous opportunities. In a few years this could boost the revenue per annum of the social network to $30 billion.
