"Google Gets Sued over Google For Education Program"

The EFF accused Google of stealing the children’s personal data.

Recently, Google has awoken to find itself in the middle of a full-fledged trial, after a non-profit organization denounced the tech giant of taking advantage of children’s credential. Google gets sued over Google for Education program and the allegations are found to be quite severe.

The Electronic Frontier Foundation established itself as a leader among non-profit companies when it comes to civil rights. Earlier this year, representatives from the EEF issued a formal complaint against Google’s newest program, accusing the tech giant that through its products it is deliberately mining data from children, using it for non-commercial purposes.

In order to help improve the educational system, Google launched a new campaign entitles Google for Education. Its purpose was to supply Chromebooks to K-12 students in order to improve their learning process.

Now, the EFF comes in to denounce Google that through their Chrome browsers, Google is able to collect the student’s personal data, like passwords, accessed materials and watched YouTube videos. Moreover, the allegations seem to put Google in disagreement with Student Privacy Pledge, an act which Googled signed not too long ago.

Jonathan Rochelle, spokesperson for Google and also the director of the program, said that Google appreciates the manner in which the EFF safeguards the rights of the students. Moreover, he refused all allegation calling them fictitious. He said that Chrome indeed collects data streams from millions of devices out there, but all data stream are stripped of personal data such as names, addresses, and passwords.

Rochelle also added that the company vouches for the client’s anonymity and that all collected data is being used in order to improve services. Google for Education supplied a while back many students from around the States with Chromebooks. These notebooks also featured an adfree version of Google Chrome, thus ensuring that the students are not bombarded by the harmful material.

But the EFF maintain their accusations stating that through the Chromebook, Google is fragrantly violating the Federal Trade Commission concerning privacy matters. Furthermore, the non-profit civil rights vigilante said that Google’s statements are a ruse in order to draw the public’s attention from their real trade.

Google gets sued over Google for Education program after the Electronic Frontier Foundation declared that Google is using collected data for non-commercial use. Whether we will see a full-fledge trial, that we could not say for sure. Nor that the allegations are founded or not. But the foundation has managed to brough one thing to our attention: that no matter what we do, our personal data is at risk of being stolen and used for other purposes.
