Google Is Considering to Expand Its Business to Wireless Networks

By Leave a Comment

googlewireless Wednesday’s reports claimed that Google is thinking of using Sprint and T-Mobile as mobile carriers for their customers. Google is considering to expand its business to wireless networks. The corporation is targeting wireless phone services to directly provide to its customers.

Wireless companies should be afraid because Goggle is believed to launch its own version of wireless network. Whether Google manages to set everything in order in the following weeks, wireless carriers will have to offer better deals in order to keep their customers. Google is planning to offer affordable price plans that could jeopardize the future of other wireless companies.

It is commonly know that Google is the leader in search engines and advertising networks. It seems logical that Google would want more people to be online, to access the Internet.

In this respect, its plan seems only fair: to offer discounted wireless services through Sprint and T-Mobile. Not only would these two companies benefit from Google’s larger audience, but The Mountain View as well.

Google is also in the mobile phone industry with its services implanted in the most used software on smartphones: the Android operating system.  Even if Google’s collaboration with the Android operating system is commonly known, its plan of expanding its business to wireless networks has not been made official. Google Inc., Sprint Corp., or T-Mobile Inc., did not comment whatsoever on the matter.

Google Inc. is already selling Internet service with high-speed limits and TV cable services. However, Google Fiber is only available in a few parts of the US such as Kansas City, Utah or Austin.

According to news’ reports, Google is indeed planning to enter the wireless business through T-Mobile and Sprint. It is aiming to reach that status through a mobile virtual network operator agreement. The two wireless carriers are in the top five largest companies in this field.

T-Mobile has recently changed their price plans to more affordable ones and with unlimited access to voice, text and Internet data. In the past year, it has been the only company to provide such affordable prices. T-Mobile has taken into account its customers financial status and provided them with various price offers.

Hence, a lease with Google can be also seen a risk. Of course, it is a calculated one for both wireless carriers. Google will increase their revenue, however the two providers should take into account that Google may turn out to be a competitive threat and not an ally.
