On Monday, Facebook announced that it will release an improved version of the search feature. This means that searching for a post, a photo or a video will be much easier a task. The new Facebook search feature is called “keyword search” and is compatible with desktop and iPhone users of Facebook.
The new Facebook search feature allows the users to look for the old posts, photos shared contents and videos of friends and pages they liked. At the moment the new Facebook search feature is only available for desktop computers and iPhone users but most definitely Facebook will announce its new feature for Android devices in the near future.
The user will be notified regarding the updated Facebook search feature and will receive an alert below the current search box. The user can search for a specific post, picture or video just by entering the keywords associated with the post the user is interested in finding.
Some say Facebook initially wanted to show posts not only from friends and liked pages but also from people the user is not following. Facebook realized that the user enjoys more to scroll through the posts made by friends and liked public pages.
The VP of Facebook search, Tom Stocky talked about the new search feature and said that when a user wants to retrieve information, it’s very important to match the content to the queries of the user. Stocky said that Facebook users care about who is posting just as much as the content itself, so it’s very important that the new Facebook search feature to show its users only content made by their friends and by pages they’ve liked.
Many analysts have said that the new Facebook search feature is a big accomplishment for the giant social media platform and many users will appreciate it.
Some say the new Facebook search feature will be a threat to other sites like Yelp or TripAdvisor because users will find everything they search for on Facebook.
The recently updated search feature is available for iPhones and desktop users; Facebook did not say anything if the new feature will be available for Android devices too.
