New Facebook Search Feature Updated, Keyword Search

By Leave a Comment

facebook search
On Monday, Facebook announced that it will release an improved version of the search feature. This means that searching for a post, a photo or a video will be much easier a task. The new Facebook search feature is called “keyword search” and is compatible with desktop and iPhone users of Facebook.

The new Facebook search feature allows the users to look for the old posts, photos shared contents and videos of friends and pages they liked. At the moment the new Facebook search feature is only available for desktop computers and iPhone users but most definitely Facebook will announce its new feature for Android devices in the near future.
The user will be notified regarding the updated Facebook search feature and will receive an alert below the current search box. The user can search for a specific post, picture or video just by entering the keywords associated with the post the user is interested in finding.

Some say Facebook initially wanted to show posts not only from friends and liked pages but also from people the user is not following. Facebook realized that the user enjoys more to scroll through the posts made by friends and liked public pages.

The VP of Facebook search, Tom Stocky talked about the new search feature and said that when a user wants to retrieve information, it’s very important to match the content to the queries of the user. Stocky said that Facebook users care about who is posting just as much as the content itself, so it’s very important that the new Facebook search feature to show its users only content made by their friends and by pages they’ve liked.
Many analysts have said that the new Facebook search feature is a big accomplishment for the giant social media platform and many users will appreciate it.

Some say the new Facebook search feature will be a threat to other sites like Yelp or TripAdvisor because users will find everything they search for on Facebook.
The recently updated search feature is available for iPhones and desktop users; Facebook did not say anything if the new feature will be available for Android devices too.

Facebook Reveals New and Improved Slingshot App

By Leave a Comment

New and Improved Slingshot App
We all know that Facebook is trying to make Slingshot more popular than Snapchat, which is the most popular chat and messaging app used by millions of people everywhere. That’s why Facebook has announced the new and improved Slingshot app.

Slingshot allows its users to send direct and time-limited images and messages, this is an old features. One of the new features lets the Slingshot users view a 24 hour feed of their friends’ posts. Facebook calls these posts “Slings”. Snapchat calls theirs “Stories”.

The new Slingshot feature is a bit different than Snapchat’s. The user doesn’t need to select a particular friend and see the posts. All the recent friends’ posts are put together in a grid and there is an option that allows you to discover and follow other people outside the contacts book.

One of the most unusual features, especially since Facebook advertises Slingshot as being an app for ephemeral moments, is that it allows you to review the posts from yesterday and share them on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
The team behind the new and improved Slingshot app has explained features saying:

“With Slingshot we originally set out to create a place where you could share real, raw moments with your friends. Since we released the first version we have been listening to all of the great feedback from our community and have been cranking away at a big update.”

Facebook launched Slingshot in June and tried to advertise it as a different fast messaging apps that already existed on the market. Slingshot differentiated itself from the others by asking the users to reply with a photo if they wanted to see a friend’s post. When it was launched, one of Slingshot’s creators, Will Ruben, explained that they introduced this feature because the Slingshot app was one where everyone creates and no one just stands and only does the watching.

After being deeply disliked by most of Slingshot’s users, the feature asking to reply in order to unlock the post was taken out.

Here’s what the team of creators had to say about the new and improved Slingshot app:

“We understand that improving a product isn’t only about what you add, but about what you remove, so we made a simpler, cleaner, more fun Slingshot.”

Facebook New Feature is Still in Progress

By Leave a Comment

The social media giant is preparing to launch another interesting new feature which will allow users to schedule the removal of their posts. This Facebook new feature sounds like something we would use especially since we always want our page updated with the most important and creative posts. The new feature is the same as the self-destruct schedule posts feature for Pages.

facebook new feature

A Facebook representative has confirmed the new feature saying that they are still working on the “pilot” feature and are testing it on Facebook for IOS. This will allow the users to schedule the deletion of posts ahead of time. No one knows when Facebool has started testing the new feature but there are users who say they have seen the option called “Choose Expiration” on some of their posts.

The Facebook new feature which gives us the ability to delete our posts on a scheduled date and time is quite fascinating in theory since it gives us more power with our posts. It also gives us an incentive to always come up with creative and exciting posts. The new feature can be used when sharing info about upcoming events, family events and so on. Facebook New Feature is somewhat similar to Snapchat and it was probably inspired by it.

Facebook New Feature is Still in Progress

We really look forward for the Facebook New Feature and we will definitely keep you posted on any official statements from Facebook which we believe they will do soon. The new feature could be a step forward for the social media giant but we doubt it will be as big as the “Like” button.

What do you think about Facebook New Feature that allows users to schedule the removal of the posts? Do you think it will be useful? Would you use it? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.

Facebook Announces New Feature: Nearby Friends

By Leave a Comment

facebook nearby friendsOne might wonder what could the giant social media company bring new to the popular Facebook. Recently, it seems that Facebook has been talking about anything else but Facebook. They have spent billions of dollars on new technology and apps that were separate from the actual Facebook service. Facebook fans have been waiting to see what new features their favorite social network has in store for them. The news is that on Thursday, Facebook announced their first important feature in almost a year. It’s called Facebook Nearby Friends and it lets the users see which friends are in their vicinity.

With Nearby Friends, Facebook offers its users a more direct connection with each other, a connection that was somehow missing before. The new feature works on smart mobile devices that run in Android and Apple operating systems.

The Nearby Friends feature is found at the bottom right corner of the app, in the “More” section. Once you enable it, it will show you what city a friend is in, what neighborhood, how many miles away your friend is and for how long he or she was there.

There are a few restrictions too. In order to see your friend and for your friend to see you, you both have to have the Nearby Friends feature turned on. You can also customize the list of people who can see you. The feature allows you to see which friends are not “nearby”. You get a “travelling” mode that will show you if any of your friends are on a trip. You can give them suggestions where to go and you can meet up if you happen to be travelling to that specific location.

Facebook’s Nearby Friends feature – the origins

The idea for the Nearby Friends feature came two years ago when Facebook bought Glancee, an app that allowed its users to find people around them who share similar interests. Galncee’s main competition was the similar Highlight app which became very popular in 2012. Glance changed its name and turned into Nearby Friends.

It looked like Facebook has been recently focused on other brands: a few months ago they purchased the popular messaging service WhatsApp and the virtual reality glasses Oculus. Facebook bought these two companies for $20 billion. We’re glad to hear that they are focusing on their own thing now and we can’t wait to test the new Nearby Friends feature.

What do you think about the new feature? Please share your thoughts in the comment section below.
